I'm re-watching Final Destination for the first time in almost 20 years. Planning on re-watching the whole franchise this month. I don't think I have even seen Final Destination 5. I remember The Final Destination being extremely lame and that put me off of watching the fifth movie.
It cracks me up that the very terrified teacher is listening to John Denver. You would think she would think listening to a singer who died in a plane crash when she is already a nervous wreck would be a bad idea, especially after just seeing the kid who had a premonition about the plane crash.
It's a good scene and a fun and creepy use of music, even if it is a bit on the nose.

That one was terrible, all I remember is nascar with some sort of Le Mans ‘55 crash.

Final Destination is a horror movie that does most things right. It makes you empathize with every character, even the asshole character. Even when it has a violent OTT death scene it some how manages to not feel like it is in bad taste. It is a movie that treads very carefully. The death scenes are entertaining and do their job for horror movie fans, but at the same time they are dramatic. They could have easily fallen into the unintentionally funny category, but somehow the director and the actors make them frightening and we feel a sense of loss when each character dies.

They blend together after 3 in my head tho. I can remember the triggering incidents but not which movies.

I remember not caring much for FD2, but I remember FD3 being fun. I wanna say I enjoy them in progressing order. 1 is best, then 2 etc. The only change I might make is the Bridge one…I like that one more than the Racing one. Not sure if those are 5 and 4 or what. Like I said they start blending together.

Like I said they start blending together. I am only 10 minutes into 2 and I already know what the problem is. The characters are already unlikable and just feel like your average crop of horror movie victims that are completely unmemorable. That is my issue with the slasher movie genre particularly, though this isn't exactly a slasher movie. A bunch of characters I am just indifferent to whether they live or die. 3 has the benefit of the talented and charismatic Mary Elizabeth Winstead to carry it.

I unapologetically love The Final Destination franchise and find them highly entertaining. They are really fun to watch with people who don't normally watch horror.

I always say, people like what they like. The problem is that the element of originality is missing from the opening of the sequel. The first 15 minutes of the original is brilliantly executed, whereas the scene in 2 isn't at all. It is a dumbed down and trashy version of the scene in the original.

Is that the roller coaster scene? Agree it wasn't as good as the log truck. Edit, no, first one was the airplane, that was a great scene.
Watching Digging Up the Marrow, so none of you have to. What a stupid waste of time. It's an incredibly boring mockumentary by the guy who did Hatchet and Hatchet II.

I like the roller coater scene more, just for being a amusement park setting. A fear I have always had is a roller coater accident, so that definitely adds to why I prefer it. The original is the plane, 2 is the log truck and 3 is the roller coaster. I likely would have not watched Digging Up the Marrow anyway.

Watched Til Death on netflix....not gonna lie, as this one started i was thinking over and over again how stupid it was...but as the movie progresses (with the exception of the double tap rule) the characters, in particular the protagonist, gets smarter. Or at least makes smarter decisions. Gist is Megan Fox is an unhappy wife, goes away with her husband, who puts her in a bad situation she has to keep finding her way out of. Dont wanna give too much away but overall i enjoyed it. The one exception is there are antagonists...and Fox has several chances to beat them to a pulp...but she continually flees instead of double tapping. That got frustrating for me. But overall it turned out enjoyable enough to recommend if anyone is interested.

I was already planning to watch it and now I know it is on Netflix.

Well I finally saw Critters, a movie that for whatever reason I never bothered with before. It was pretty much what I expected; silly, goofy, cheesy effects, and predictable. It sure followed the Gremlins formula right down to the hilt, only with a nastier tone. My favorite scenes are the ones involving the alien bounty hunters.
