I’m in my mid thirties and the thought of turning 40 in a few short years makes me panic. I just don’t know how people deal with this. It’s not easy. Then again, I recall panicking about turning 20, then 30, and now in retrospect that just seems silly. Hard to appreciate your current age though because obviously it’s the oldest you’ve ever been. Dear Akbar What you're experiencing is normal. It will, probably, get worse ... but not much. Then it will get better ... but not much. I'm a card-carrying member of the "Baby Boom." At 25, I recall thinking: "OMG, in 15 years, I'll be 40!" That was two hurdles to away to cause anxiety, before we would devolve into an abyss of irrelevance. I was "fully aware," that you could never trust anyone, over 30. I knew that, to a certainty, because several teenagers, and people in their 20's -- AKA, my peers -- told me so. And, that was only 5 years in the offing. I would roam the landscape, in a state of trust-unworthiness, for a full decade, before the "end." Look on the bright-side. As you said, you've, already, transitioned into your 30's with considerable ease. You may have lost a sleep, in the nights before your 30th birthday. I'll bet you slept, just fine, on the night after. The same will happen at 40, 50, 60 etc.. There's a currently running commercial that has the tag line: "You only live once. NO! You only DIE once. Live every day!" Cheers, Divtal I remember 'never trust any one over 30' , divtal. Lol Now I'm more than twice that!! You gave great advice. Live today. No one is promised tomorrow

I think that’s true of men who are really good looking to begin with- like George Clooney. LOL. The rest of us just look older. But… I shave my head so at least I never have to worry about losing (more) hair or going grey. I suppose that’s something. You shaved your gorgeous hair off? Now I'm sad ackbar! hi enigma! i am "president ackbar" from exiles, we both use the name ackbar, but i am the one with all the hair, lol

cryogenically freeze Yourself mate. But when I unfreeze I won’t be any younger. Also, someone might think I’m a delicious frozen seafood entree and microwave me!

Then again, I recall panicking about turning 20, then 30, and now in retrospect that just seems silly. Hard to appreciate your current age though because obviously it’s the oldest you’ve ever been. When I was in my mid-thirties (35) I was diagnosed with Stage 2 adenocarcinoma and given a prognosis, with treatment, that said I had a 75% chance of surviving 5 years. Mind you, I could die a week after the 5 year mark and still fit that statistic. Without treatment, I would have been dead before age 40. Every other relative of mine that had had this cancer had died from it. My father's mother, my father's sister (I was 12 when she died and saw what she went through), and a bunch of other relatives. I grew up going to funerals. So every year, I am amazed that I am still alive, now at age 67. My perspective got a big readjustment. But I don't celebrate my birthday. I celebrate the day I was told I was in remission. That was 32 years ago. It kind of messes with that usually normal line of thought about age.

You should also change out the toilets in your house for so-called comfort height elongated toilets.
But do not get American Standard. Their strange design makes the toilet a bitch to install, and the way the seat attaches means you cannot use anything but their replacement seat should the need arise.

i was more depressed when i turned 29 than when i turned 30. i think because at 29 i knew it was my last year in my 20s and by the time i turned 30 ive already accepted that i was going to turn 30. i also look a lot younger than 30 so that also helps lol

43, I've coped by realizing that while youth was fun, I'd not really want to do it all over again... + youthful things I used to enjoy, I don't really miss either.
I still feel mentally youthful, good & bad. I don't think I've registered my age in my brain since about 32.
I think 60 is the next big one, 50 shouldn't be tough. I'm not sure I'll see 70 lols.

Not gonna lie, but I feel its going to be tough mentally to accept (me personally). I'm 32, never had anxious thoughts turning 20 or 30, because socially speaking those age brackets are still considered young. 40 is different though from a psychological perspective. I feel at that age and older, a person has left their prime years of being physically at their peak. I would echo the exercise advice. You dont want to be in your mid 40s, fat and lazy. I would also look into investing if you already haven't, through stocks/bonds/crypto/ETF's to build your financial power.

I actually really enjoyed my early thirties. Wasn’t anywhere near as bad as I thought. Maybe 40 will be the same? That means I gotta spend the next few years depressed though!

my dad has always wanted grandkids by both me and my sister but i think hes realized finally its never going to happen with me unless i change my views of stuff like that once i enter my thirties.
i just dont want the responsibiity of supporting a family i hate the idea of being all alone one day when im in my 70s. 80s. 90s. etc because its no guaranteed everyone ages gracefully.
but again i just hate the idea of taking on that kind of responsibility as well
he does have grandkids and great grandkids by my sister, maybe one day he''ll have some by me too.
but for now like i said enjoy the little tings
