¡Three Amigos! (1986): Yea or nay?

IS there a Thumbs Sideways option...I like parts of it and hate others...Martin is funny...Short is his usual Grating self and Chase phones it in most of the time..

Wonder what the original cut of the film was like (Landis was on trial at the time and the studio did a major re-edit of his final cut) or how the concept would have worked had it been made earlier (Martin had been attached since 1980, when the idea was for himself, Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi to do it or when Spielbergo became attached a few years later and wanted Martin, Bill Murray and Robin Williams) ...Personally, I think the film might have worked better with Martin, Phil Hartman and John Lovitz in the leads...

Sad thing is, Chase really isn't untalented...You see flashes of talent throughout his career, but most of the time, he seems content to do the base level of shtick and get paid...
