I liked it a lot. A bit slow in places, they could have made it tighter if they'd made it just five or six episodes. Still pretty good.

I liked the first couple episodes but felt the series fell apart about midway through. It was nice to hear earlier Neil Diamond music; they used his African Mass (very interesting and innovative when it came out in about 1970-71, although today it would be criticized as cultural appropriation) and the resonating "Holly Holy."

a depressed woman is complaining to her depressed boyfriend about her dead, cold-hearted mother…which has nothing to do the plot…so I go to bathroom, then to kitchen to fix a drink, back to the TV, and she is still complaining. Why didn't you pause it?

Based on what you said, it sounds like it was.

Why? So I could sit through more boring dialogue that has nothing to do with the central plot? This is a horror story, I expect frights, not Freudian angst. It's called "character development." In fact, a horror story can't frighten the audience every single second. Also, since you weren't present in the room, how do you know the scene didn't cut to another place to show other characters and then cut back to the conversation?

Actors nowadays should learn to pick up their cues. Why do you think that's what caused the pauses? I thought they were intentional choices by the director. it's a hit on Netflix. Like you, others are seeing something I don't. Oh, I'm not telling you all these things because I'm a fan that feels the urge to defend it or something. I did like it, but not that much. I simply disagreed with your points. For the record, getting a lot of views on Netflix is like selling a lot of tickets at the box office: It doesn't really reflect the product's quality.

I enjoyed it. It was one big gigantic metaphor chock full of smaller metaphors. It was a great depiction of the cult of trumpism.
