He was also Kirk Douglas' saddle pal in MAN WITHOUT A STAR and had the lead role as celebrity convict Caryl Chessman in CELL 2455, DEATH ROW.
His other claim to fame was being the husband of Judith Exner -- who was also the paramour of both Chicago mobster Sam Giancana and President Kennedy.

No wonder I always felt like he was up to something!
That Carryl Chessman movie I remember well from tv. The real interesting thing was that Campbell Looked like he was guilty. So even though he had a good case, it was hard not to believe he was doing someth8ng. Apparently the real Chessman had that quality too. Alan Alda , one of the most beloved actors of the 20th century managed to project that same quality when he played Chessman in a TV movie. The thing is ,Campbell had that quality all the time . I can’t help thinking it hurt his career.
