A remake of Lethal Weapon today would feature one black older female cop and one younger Lesbian (or possibly trans) Latino cop. I mean yeah there is that pressure by the studios to go super "woke" (god, I hate that word). And the likelihood of them doing a female lead Lethal Weapon reboot is probably higher than them doing a male lead reboot. Personally I'm all for more female lead films. I'm all for trans men or women leading more films. However, I think when they try to do it while rebooting another franchise it just comes across too forced. Like the Ocean's 8 movie or Ghostbusters. I still think there is room out there to continue or reboot this franchise, but it has to be done the right way. If they cast the wrong actors it's gonna feel too generic. Smith and Hardy are both solid actors who have strong fanbases. I think their fans would show up for the film combined with general audiences for the nostalgia. Now if they really wanted to do one with female leads they should introduce 2 female cop characters in the Smith/Hardy reboot. Then if the film is a success and those characters are a success they can do a spinoff focused on those two female characters... but one step at a time.

It's funny I actually made a thread a while ago asking if Danny Glover deserved a better career, comparing him to Will Smith and other black action movie stars from the 90s. I guess Smith would be OK for a remake, if he was younger I would prefer Samuel Jackson, I really liked him in Die Hard With a Vengeance. In my opinion Glover has a better career than Smith.

Will Smith is famous on his own, Danny Glover is famous because of Mel Gibson.

Maybe. I don't see Smith as the old, past-his-prime cop type though. How to say you haven't watched Gemini Man without saying you haven't watched Gemini Man. You're not wrong about that, but even so, I don't find him as grizzled like Glover.

I'd rather watch any of the 4 LW films, Predator 2, Color Purple, Witness, Royal Tenenbaums, Silevado, Bat 21, Pure Luck, Switchback, Angel's in the Outfield over any of Wll Smith's movies.

I don't know how to compare bad/good acting. But I enjoy watching Danny Glover's character portrayals over Will Smith's character portrayals. Will Smith is annoying.

I mean really what do you see in him? Maybe I like his boringness. Will Smith carries an ego with his characters, a sharp tongue. Glover is like a real Man, his characters seem more like they lived a life before the audience got to meet him. He's an everyman. Will Smith is like an overgrown child.

Real men aren't Mel Gibson's bitch. Mel respects Danny and Riggs respects Rodger. Mel Gibson is practically on God level so it's ok to be his bitch.
