Die Hard
Love the movie, but I put it on really late in the evening, dozed off, the Nakatomi Building blew up, woke me and I had to peel myself off the ceiling.

I don't know if it qualifies under the correct use of the term, but The Thin Blue Line (1988) was eye-opening for me. I may have bought a VHS copy that was taken out of circulation by a local rental store.

Yes believe it or not, the idea of NOT being a racist was considered "woke" at the time. It's a film with a liberal message for sure, but I think it's insulting and disingenuous to retroactively label it with such a loaded term that has so many bad connotations.

It bombed at the box office and was panned by critics, so it went into obscurity for a while. It was only recently that it was put on blu-ray.

Well that's on the people who freak out about the word "woke." 12 Angry Men certainly fits the criteria of what people think is woke.

'Woke' is a recent concept. Not really. "Politically correct" (which was used in essentially the same pejorative sense) was used way back in the 1980s. It's just been repackaged as "woke".
