So, I just searched YouTube for the esteemed names thrust into the spotlight as the halftime show.
I already knew Snoop and Eminem, and I’d heard of Dr Dre without actually knowing songs specifically by him (turns out 1 is vaguely familiar).
But Mary and Kendrick - really ?
Mary sings stuff so bland and vanilla that you could literally grab the best black girl singer in any high school in America and you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. Seriously. It’s straight ahead pop music, with basic music that’s well engineered. I don’t get it…
As for Kendrick - how is dude even famous ? He’s not even talented. It’s shit lyrics set to a shit beat. The best part of his songs are when he isn’t singing.
Fuck me dead music sucks nowadays.

I don't know that much about Eminem's regard in the rap/hip-hop community. Is he 100% accepted? Resented? Is he like the Larry Bird of rap?
