Do you believe in any conspiracy theory at all?
I’m not talking about people who believe in anything they hear. I’m talking about people who are pretty level headed, but there’s this one or maybe two things they believe.
For example. My uncle is pretty level headed. However, he believes Donald Trump lost the election due to fraud. He believes in the conspiracy that Biden stole the election.
My neighbor believes the government is putting microchips in the Covid Vaccines. He’s a physical therapist at the VA. He’s pretty level headed mostly.
My grandfather was very down to Earth, but he believed the moon landing was a hoax.
What conspiracy theory do you think is actually real?

I believe there is an Illuminati which controls world events. It seems quite logical to me that the super rich and powerful get together and use their wealth and power to make sure things go in their favor.

In the 70's I began working in News/Talk radio. It seemed like books about the JFK assassination were still being published on a monthly basis ... even a decade "plus," after the fact.
Most of them made the case that the "Lee Harvey Oswald/Single-Bullet" theory, was easily debunked. I heard so many discussions about that, and more specific conspiracy possibilities, that I firmly believed that there was something much deeper than what had been concluded by The Warren Commission.
It's been so long since I've really given it a lot of thought, that I'm not sure about it, today. This thread makes me think about going back to review some of that with a more distant perspective.

My opinion on JFK has become such that if Oswald did shoot him, he is a hero. Worst President in American history.

I've sometimes wondered if the murder of John Lennon was actually a carefully planned suicide staged by Lennon and Yoko Ono as some kind of conceptual art piece.

Conspiracy theorists work from allegation down rather than the evidence up.
The single bullet theory was put forth by the Warren Commission as its explanation for the massive damage done to both Kennedy and Gov. Connelly.
It was an unwieldy theory that did match up with the three shots known to have been fired by LHO’s rifle. At first it was though all three hit Kennedy, but soon, a bullet was found across the street where it hit the curb of the pavement. From its trajectory, it could not have hit JFK or Connelly.
Another bullet was a clean entrance wound in JFK’s back, but did not hit Gov Connelly.
The last had account for rest of the massive damage done to both men leaving only one slightly deformed bullet found on the hospital stretcher used for Connelly.
That’s open season for conspiracy theorists and with the release of the shocking Zapruder film, where Kennedy’s skull tissue appears to fly backwards from a front hit, was hard to dismiss, along with credible eyewitness testimony which became the “Grassy Knoll Theory.”
It was only recently that an experiment fairly reproduced the conditions to test the single bullet theory and was reasonably successful at confirming it could happen. That moved me somewhat out of the second shooter camp, but I also think a lot of people heard and/or saw something happening on the knoll at the same time, probably from behind the fence, as we do have some records of their immediate reactions and close witness testimony. There was enough of it to open a House Select Committee to later reopen the investigation into the events of the day.

I think the only one with sufficent evidence is the JFK assasination.
The rest are nonsense made up by idiots with nothing better to do.

No.
That doesn't mean I am closed off to the idea that some of them are true though, just that I am not at all convinced that any of them are true.

There was enough of it to open a House Select Committee to later reopen the investigation into the events of the day. Yes. It was, in large part, the hard evidence claimed by experts; the number of bullets, the wounds that they could reasonably have inflicted, and their condition relative to the first two factors, that were the most convincing to me. I wasn't aware of the recent experiment that you mentioned. I'll look at that. Other bits of arguments to support a massive conspiracy include things that ... if correctly recalled ... could have been explained, reasonably. The one that comes to mind is the figure who was dubbed "the umbrella man." There was a bystander on the "Grassy Knoll," with an open umbrella, on a sunny day. As soon as shots rang out, it was said, he folded his umbrella. This was interpreted, by some, to have been a signal. Now, I look at that ... if correctly recalled ... I think it's more likely that the person wanted to stay in the shade on a sunny day. Having the one opened umbrella, in such a setting, would seem to be a bit high-profile for someone who's involved in a conspiracy of that magnitude. Moreover, after shooting began, it would have been prudent to minimize any noticeable target.

Over time, I've lost my belief in the few that I bought into once upon a time. The two that were hardest to give up were the Kennedy assassination and Kurt Cobain's suicide.
