When teams leave town fans are usually bitter and angry but for whatever reason Raiders fans dont seem to care where they go and are always loyal. If the Eagles went to St Louis, I'd say F' em but I'd love to hear what everybody thinks.

Any Browns fans that rooted for the Ravens? Any Baltimore Colt fans that rooted for them in Indianapolis? Any Oilers fans that rooted for the Titans?

No way. I barely want to be a Vikings fan as is. If they ever moved I'd pick a different team.

They're more into Raider nation mentality, and don't need an excuse to go to Vegas.

I would understand the bitterness from some fans, but I'd also understand still being a fan. I'm certainly that way with players. I still root for players that used to play for Boston teams, as long as it doesn't come at our expense of course.
It really doesn't seem that strange to me. People are fans of teams that are nowhere near their home region. People move to different cities but still root for their original home teams. What's the difference?

We all know that you have to live within 1000 feet of the stadium in order to be a fan of the team that plays there.

If my QB and TE leave the town*, I'll be still loyal.
So yes, it's the team, not the town I root for. But I can't imagine that a team in Europe would ever relocate. But we have a different culture and mind-set. Our teams have names like 1. FC Köln, or 1. FC Freiburg. The town name, is the team name. It was founded there and all German teams are organized like Greenbay. Not own by a person, family or a company/group of investors, but by its members, and everyone is allowed to join. We have even a 50+1 rule that forbids that a single investor can own more then 50% of a club; 50+1% have to be in the ownership of the club and thus its members - the many. The very opposite of the NFL, where the number of owners is limited, and only Greenbay is allowed to maintain its kind of organization by being grandfathered.
*I have never been to Boston or Foxborough although I intend to change that in fall 2022.
Without Covid I would have been in Tokyo in 2020, and now in New England/East coast area (Boston, New York, Philly, Washington...maybe Florida).

They're more into Raider nation mentality, and don't need an excuse to go to Vegas. Aren't pirates marauders who called all of the seven seas their home? So I agree that the Raiders have an own mentally, that they lay claim to the entire US as their domain. And which town is more akin to this mind-set than Vegas?

No way. I barely want to be a Vikings fan as is. If they ever moved I'd pick a different team. Why don't pick an other team now? If I had no trust, hope or fun with the Pats, I would choose an other team (but the Packers are even worse than the Pats => front office).

Depends on the manner of the departure. If ownership just decided to move the Bills to greener pastures just to make a buck, yeah, I might switch teams. If there was other circumstances, stadium issue, I might stick with them. First example would be the Cleveland Browns, second would be the Montreal Expos. Also depends on the teams success or lack thereof. Right now, I don' think I'd throw myself to the floor and weep uncontrollably if the Sabres left. I haven't been to a game in five years and don't think I'll go this year. The team doesn't seem to care, why should I?

Then again, if you ever been to a Raiders game, it's the dumbest Mofos on earth. I'm betting a lot of these idiots stormed the Capitol on Jan 6. You couldn't pay me to go to a Raiders game today.

Neither of my teams are in the city I live in so I can't say it would bother me.
I see Collingwood once or twice a year when they play in Sydney and I haven't seen the Dragons live for at least three years.
The most successful one in Australia was the South Melbourne, now Sydney, Swans. I think most of their fans were just happy they would still exist in some way. The Roman Empire might have moved to Byzantium but at least it was still the Roman Empire.

Half the people in Raiders hats that I've met think they're wearing NWA merchandise, not sports apparel.

Any respectable owner would leave the team nickname with the city and have the fanbase of the new city choose another name
i.e. like the Cleveland Browns/Baltimore Ravens situation
