It can be a relationship you let go.
It can be a job you wish you hadn’t left.
Perhaps a college degree you should not have paid for.

My biggest regret is deleting my YouTube channel.
Back in 2008, when YT was young and I was 22, I had a channel. I reviewed CW tv shows and movies.
This was a pretty new concept at the time. Most people do this all over the internet today.
However, back then. You didn’t get paid for YouTube. You just uploaded videos for fun.
I reviewed Smallville and at the height of my success, I had 15K subscribers and 40-80k views per video. One of them even crossed the 100k.
Now, imagine if I kept doing this. By the time YouTube became monetized and shows like “Arrow” and “The Flash” became so popular. I would have probably had a huge following. The go to guy to listen to CW to show reviews because I had been reviewing “SMALLVILLE” since 2008.
I quit the channel and deleted it because I wasn’t getting paid, it was taking up a lot of my time, and people were bothering me if i didn’t release the newest episode every Sunday night.

I should have been a little less selfish and also a bit more decisive.

I'd usually be that asshole who says I have no regrets.. on principle I think having regrets is pointless if you are happy where you are now. I am happy and don't hate myself... I used to but working on the things I hated about myself worked better than living in the past, I can't change it. I can be kinder to my past self now, he did the best he could. I don't hate him anymore. That said, easier to say you don't regret something anymore when you had to the time to reflect and accept it, that seems to be true for me. I don't wanna be overly hard on myself but stuff that recently happened.... like eh I can allow myself to be upset and regret it. An old friend died this year, I just regret not calling him back when I said I would. I completely forgot, months went by. I'm not stupid enough to think I could have changed his death somehow but I honestly just wish I had the conversation to remember, even if it was about the weather or nothing. Still stings so I regret that for sure..

Also having regrets and hating yourself are two very different things.

I regret not leaving Quebec to live either in Ontario or the maritimes after I graduated.

Also having regrets and hating yourself are two very different things. Agreed! I could have worded that better probably. I was just associating the 2 based on personal experience... but I also did say I have some regret despite being generally satisfied with my life currently. Def different things

I wanted to become a historian, but I became an engineer instead. Me also. History was always my first love but I didn’t think I could make a living at it. I enjoy running my company but it’s far from exciting. I wish I had got along with my brother and sister better when we were younger. We are close now but damn, iI hated them both at times. The stress is laid on my parents must have sucked.

Nothing really. Even stupid crap I’ve done or experienced, I can look back and see how I got some positive out of it. I can only imagine what to regret.

I have many regrets but,
“One of the great secrets of life. Most people die of a sort of creeping common sense and discover too late that the only things one never regrets are one's mistakes.”
― Oscar Wilde, The Picture of Dorian Gray
