I get this feeling that the reboot will turn out being just as problematic in the eyes of SJW types as it will be bitched about by prude Ben Shapiro types. I think Jamie Clayton and David Bruckner will do something very unique with this movie.

There will always be people on any side of any dividing line that will complain no matter what you do. I haven't seen The Night House yet, but I think David Bruckner is a good filmmaker and a good choice to take this material seriously and artfully. I haven’t read the original short story, but using that as the basis is kind of a no-brainer approach.

That looks like a parody. The fact they were serious with that look astounds me.

Perhaps not too surprising, it’s earned a R rating for "strong bloody horror violence and gore, language throughout, some sexual content, and brief graphic nudity."

Just so long as we’re clear that Doug Bradley personification of Pinhead is beloved and iconic and that criticism of this portrayal is a guarantee and should not be merely written off as transphobic or whatever.
I hope she does a great job but I’ll be honest, I don’t expect her to be better than Bradley.

Sure looks like a traditional Pinhead in that logo image. But who the hell knows if that's accurate to the movie?

That's subjective. But sure, there can be something wrong with anything. But that doesn't mean something is automatically wrong. And yet, there've been some phenomenal remakes and sequels. I think you'll find that I didn't say that anything is automatically wrong. Of course there have been great remakes and sequels. That changes nothing about what I said. I just find that this argument, and most that take place online and probably most that take place anywhere, tends to forego nuance and thought in place of taking sides and labeling everyone. Someone can point out that there are trends taking place that are not made for creatively interesting reasons without being a hateful bigot. Likewise, there can be someone cast in a role thats different than you'd like without it being 'wokeness' or 'radical man-hating feminism' or whatever else people say. Both things can be true. This is a nation of people who dearly love to pigeonhole and label themselves. It tends to make them feel 'special', in lieu of having anything more substantial to give reason to feel good about themselves. No big surprise when Hollywood jumps all over some already societally hyper-prevalent trend.

I'm late to this party, but honestly the casting doesn't bother me. In Barker's original book The Hellbound Heart, Pinhead was described as being more feminine.
"Its voice, unlike that of its companion, was light and breathy--the voice of an excited girl. Every inch of its head had been tattooed with an intricate grid, and at every intersection of horizontal and vertical axes a jeweled pin driven through to the bone. Its tongue was similarly decorated."
