Yeah it might turn out to be a dud. But I'll probably rent it out of curiosity. Unless I hear it's as bad as Anna or Ava (amusingly enough that also had Jessica Chastain). At this juncture I am assuming Chastain does movies like Ava and 355 for a quick paycheck and also to feasibly mix it up a bit so she's not ultimately stuck just doing mid level adult fare in prestige dramas. Wouldn't surprise me. It's probably like when you see Glenn Close or Judi Dench in a superhero movie or some other sci-fi/fantasy gobbledygook. It must be a vacation for them.

Also likely she does them as a "one for the studio, one for me" deal. She can get studio support for a passion project if she does a more commercial movie here and there in return for the studio. A lot of actors and directors do this. Of course she could also do these movies to fulfill a studio contract. That's one reason why she did "The Huntsman" according to IMDB trivia.

The ladies will get back on their feet. Simon Kinberg may want to avoid making more big-budget movies though.

Just watched it today. Not TOO bad, but nothing to write home about. If you don't think too hard about the plot, it is reasonably entertaining.
