I've had this shark cordless(I think it was a cheaper shark) for like 3 years... it still works but it is a huge fcking pain to clean. The design is awful, the brush roll can't be removed so i can't easily get all the hair out. I clean it prolly like twice a month but the design just seems so poor... dust and hair gets stuck everywhere in this thing, itll start to stink from buildup quickly. Plus it was a mistake to get cordless, I'm constantly charging it and it runs out kinda quick. I kinda like cleaning but not cleaning the thing that's supposed to clean. Anyway, that's my rant bc that's what I was doing this morning. Think imma just buy a new one, any recs? 😐

Many years ago, I was with my Mom, when she bought a Sebo vacuum. It was not inexpensive ... she paid nearly $600 for it. I don't know what they cost, now.
I'd never heard of that brand. But, it is an excellent vacuum, with an excellent reputation.
As Mom got older, she said that it had become very heavy for her to push. We traded vacuums (I think I had a Hoover). I, certainly, got the better of the "deal," but she was happy to have the lighter machine. I'm no kid. I'm from the leading edge of the Baby Boom, and it poses no problem for me.
It easily adjusts from a bare floor, to any thickness of carpet. There is a yellow light to tell you that it's making the adjustment, and a green light to tell you that the adjustment has been made.
The bags and filters are easy to replace. And, the cord is very long. I live in a medium sized apartment, and I can plug it in, in a central location, and not have to change outlets.
Possible CONS:
-- The price. Although Mom bought this about 20 years ago. And, it's still going strong.
-- I'm not sure how readily available bags, filters, and repair services are in some locales. Of course, almost everything is available online. I live in a major city, and I have that availability nearby.
Good luck.

I have a Shark vacuum that has been dependable for quite a while now. Has anti-allergen "complete seal" technology and is lightweight and relatively quiet. Do not know what the current model equivalent would be now, but more or less looks like this:
And cost approx. $200, possibly purchased on sale for less.

@langdona hope all is well with you and your family! We keep a vaccuum for a year or two and get a new one. Like you say, cleaning it is often difficult. I have a hoover now, but it has cleaning issues, too. We also have a roomba. We run it and clean it daily. What I like, it goes under the bed! My husband does not feel it picks up enough, but I feel like it is cleaning a little every day. I have a 'cheap' roomba from WalMart for about 200. But there are expensive ones that you can program, they empty themselves, and are expensive. good luck!

I've never heard of that brand, will look into it but sounds a bit out of my price range. Also idk if I want one with bags I have to be switching out all the time. I like the ones you can just dump the shit out but thats prolly why it gets so dirty too ha. Anyway, thanks!

Have you ever seen those videos of roombas going over dog poop or sth and smearing it everywhere? XD those videos alone very much discourage me from getting one of those. (Not that my dog shits everywhere but thinking worst case)

Good thinking @langdona
I don't have pets, but I have heard of that.
Too bad they are so expensive. I'd have one in each bedroom just to go under the beds!

We all should kill ourselves and get it over with. Did you ever think 10 years ago you'd be talking about Hoover dust filters one day? I'm adulting because I really want a Bissel Proheat 2X.

The Dyson brand. No shit. Expensive? Yes. Worth it? Absolutely! "You get what you pay for" never applied to anything more than this. I've lived in a house with FOUR pets and this shit lasted a solid TEN YEARS of that. No joke. Never been more satisfied with an appliance. No joke. Dyson, my friend. Dyson.

(Not that my dog shits everywhere but thinking worst case) I had my knockoff brand run over cat poop once and that was fun. The newest Roomba models are smart enough to be able to avoid poop on their own but they're also very expensive. And if you have pet or kid toys all over the floor the vacuum is absolutely going to get stuck on those well before it finishes patrolling the house.
