langdona hope all is well with you and your family! We keep a vaccuum for a year or two and get a new one. Like you say, cleaning it is often difficult. I have a hoover now, but it has cleaning issues, too. We also have a roomba. We run it and clean it daily. What I like, it goes under the bed! My husband does not feel it picks up enough, but I feel like it is cleaning a little every day. I have a 'cheap' roomba from WalMart for about 200. But there are expensive ones that you can program, they empty themselves, and are expensive. good luck! Enigma hiya. Have you ever seen those videos of roombas going over dog poop or sth and smearing it everywhere? XD those videos alone very much discourage me from getting one of those. (Not that my dog shits everywhere but thinking worst case) I had my knockoff brand run over cat poop once and that was fun. The newest Roomba models are smart enough to be able to avoid poop on their own but they're also very expensive. And if you have pet or kid toys all over the floor the vacuum is absolutely going to get stuck on those well before it finishes patrolling the house.
