From what I have seen the main opinion seems like the 70s is known to be the best decade for horror films. So what are your favs?

Not a fan of gore/slasher movies and the '70's was the decade when that kind of stuff exploded all over the screen (pardon the pun).
And I'm not big on Devil movies, most of which I find formulaic (with some exceptions).
The Exorcist and Alien top my list.
Always liked Carrie a lot, too.
I recently acquired a copy of The Omen, the first time I've seen it in its entirety since 1976. Still not crazy about it, but it was well made and a runaway success. Skipped all the sequels.

I recently acquired a copy of The Omen, the first time I've seen it in its entirety since 1976. Still not crazy about it, but it was well made and a runaway success. Skipped all the sequels. The Omen 2 and 3 are decent but 4 and the remake are pretty wful.

I noticed The Wicker Man is mentioned. I still have yet to see it. Just make sure you see the original 1973 version and not the terrible Nicholas Cage version. I actually seen the Cage one in the theatre when I was 18. I saw it with a friend. He bailed to hang out in the lobby half way through.
