I'm watching a movie called Death Watch from 2002 that is an English horror movie starring Jamie Bell and Andy Serkis that is about a haunted trench in WWI.
Are there any other war related horror movies besides this and Overlord?

Dog Soldiers Ilsa, She Wolf of the SS Jacob's Ladder Dead Snow 1 and 2 I forgot about Jacob's Ladder and Dog Soldiers. Are the Dead Snow movies good? The first wastes the concept on a generic slasher movie. The second is a lot of fun, though.

I watched Final Exam the other day and I actually like the first half. It seems like they wrote half a script and then just winged it with the second half. It just doesn't add up to much in the end. Would have made sense if they made the killer the father of the girl who kills herself because she doesn't get accepted into the Sorority, but instead the killer is just some guy and I guess that sort of fits with the nerdy kid about the senseless violence in society that he keeps talking about, but it just doesn't work well.

I just remember it being last or very low on your ranking of '80s slasher movies last year and wanted to share my thoughts.

Mainly on account of being the most forgettable of 80s slasher movies, which is saying something. Oh yeah, I think you've seen these war horrors, but I recommend: Dead of Night The Guest

Both good. I was actually looking for ones that take place in war settings though, which is why I didn't think of Jacob's Ladder.

The Bunker (2001) - very similar to ‘Deathwatch’, but German soldiers instead. R-Point (2004) - Again similar style to the two films above, but South Korean production. Below (2002) - Submarine horror involving possible supernatural. Red Sands (2009) - American soldiers in Afghanistan encounter a djinn. The Objective (2008) - Just like Red Sands, although I cannot remember if they encounter aliens, or an evil entity. Blood Vessel (2019) - WWII survivors of a torpedoed hospital ship aboard an eerily empty German minesweeper, and learn the hard way what happened to the crew. Grey Knight aka Killing Box (1993) - American Civil war horror with voodoo zombies, and an evil entity. The Keep (1983)
A couple not set during a war, but use military, or mercenaries. Shock Waves (1977) - a shipwreck of vacationers become stranded on a island with dead nazi super soldiers. GP506 aka the guard post (2008) - South Korean soldiers deal with a virus effecting their guard post. Outpost (2008) - mercenaries stuck at an abandoned bunker encounter a nazi supernatural force. The Supernaturals (1986) - army soldiers training in the woods come face to face with zombie civil war soldiers.

Talking about the horrors of war. The other day I came across the story of the Ramree Island Crocodile Massacre. Had no idea about it, and I’m surprised nothing of it has made it to the screen. Story goes during the end of WW2. 1000 Japanese soldiers fleeing from British forces, head into the mangrove swamp of Ramree Island which was inhabited by large salt water crocodiles. While British troops monitored the situation from afar, knowing the risks. Supposedly just under 500 managed to get out. Becoming the largest, and most deadly animal massacre of people in recorded history. Sort of reminds me of USS Indianapolis story.

I was trying to think of the one I saw within the last few years that took place in the middle east. I think it may have been Red Sands now that you've identified that one. If I recall it had a sort of twist ending that I won't repeat in case people haven't seen it, but it was one of those endings that reframes the whole thing... if it's the same movie, that is. I've never seen any of them, but I know that there are people that like the Outpost movies.

I saw them when they were first released, and didn’t think much of them. Although you could be thinking of The Objective, as I remember it being less straightforward, if rather ambiguous compared to Red Sands. I like the original Outpost movie, not second film though. Never bothered with the third.
