How is the 80s the best? Serious question, aren’t they mostly just slasher sequels?

This^^^ It was the most fun decade for horror movies. Even the bad ones are usually amusing to an extent and have a certain bad movie charm to them.

How is the 80s the best? Serious question, aren’t they mostly just slasher sequels? Here is almost 100 non-slasher horror movies from the 1980s, and these are just the ones I have seen. Also, there were way more slasher movies that weren't sequels during the decade than were. Most aren't good, with exceptions, but most aren't sequels and most didn't even have sequels. The Howling The Evil Dead Evil Dead II Dark Night of the Scarecrow Scarecrows Scanners Videodrome The Entity The Hand Deadly Blessing The Beyond From Beyond Dead & Buried Wolfen Ghost Story Venom The Shining Fade to Black Halloween III: Season of the Witch Poltergeist Possession Creepshow Cat People The Thing Amityville II: The Possession Q: The Winged Serpent Christine The Hunger Cujo The Dead Zone Pet Sematary Firestarter The Keep Twilight Zone: The Movie Of Unknown Origin Children of the Corn Gremlins C.H.U.D. Razorback Night of the Comet The Company of Wolves House House II: The Second Story Cat's Eye Fright Night Day of the Dead Re-Animator Return of the Living Dead Silver Bullet Graveyard Shift Demons Lifeforce Deadly Friend Maximum Overdrive Critters The Fly Gothic Lair of the White Worm Night of the Creeps Troll Brain Damage Basket Case RawHead Rex Invaders from Mars The Lost Boys Hellraiser The Monster Squad Prince of Darkness The Gate Dolls Bad Taste The Hidden Dead of Winter I Was Teenage Vampire Elvira: Mistress of the Dark Waxwork Warlock The Blob Dead Ringers They Live The Serpent and the Rainbow Dead Heat Phantasm II Monkey Shines Society Sundown: The Vampire in Retreat

1. 80s 2. 90s 3. 2010s 4. 2000s
I think I prefer the 90s to the past 2 decades. 2000s is by far the worst. The oversaturation of the torture porn subgenre hurts it too much. It still has its gems but not as many as the other decades imo.

I went with the 1980s, because it has 2 of my all-time favorite horror movies and was really the decade that defines the genre imo. Many of the good horror movies from 2010s exist because of what the 1980s brought to the table in terms of the genre. Torture horror is another reason I dislike the 2000s output as much as I do. I might just be a bigger fan of the 2010's type of horror than the 1990's type of horror than you. 2000s had the most cringe-inducing bad horror movies and the least amount of great horror movies imo.

In the 90s it felt like horror movies had production value. Think Silence of the Lambs, Jacob’s Ladder, Misery, Candyman, Arachnophobia, Scream, In the Mouth of Madness, Event Horizon, Mimic, And more

An American Werewolf is the reason there's a makeup effects Oscar. Both decades had their cheap shit as well as their more classy productions. You probably got more of both in the 80s because the genre was booming, while the 90s was a drought period in the genre.

Off the top of my head, I'd probably agree with that ranking.

How is the 80s the best? Serious question, aren’t they mostly just slasher sequels? Even if you completely disregard any Halloween, Friday or Nightmare movie you can still compile a pretty awesome list. The Thing Thy Fly The Shining An American Werewolf in London Day of the Dead Evil Dead 1 & 2 The Lost Boys Videodrome Hellraiser The Reanimator Return of the Living Dead Fright Night Children of the Corn Poltergeist Christine Prince of Darkness Cannibal Holocasut The Beyond Monster Squad The Fog The Howling Silver Bullet Childs Play Predator Aliens They Live Pet Semetery Bad Taste Pumpkinhead Henry Portrait of a Serial Killer Opera Changeling The Hitcher Creepshow Maniac Near Dark You could go on and on, the 1970's had the more legendary horror classics, the ones that set the stage, but the 80's had the stage.
