In Grand Hotel (1932), shy Lionel Barrymore who knows he is dying is having a fling for himself at the hotel bar. Someone recommends that he try a Louisiana Flip. He gets it but is called away before he can take a sip. "My Louisiana Flip," he says regretfully as he is leaving.
Rum, Cointreau, Orange Juice, Grenadine, raw egg, shaken in ice, orange garnish
The Blue Gardenia (1953) has Anne Baxter going to a night club with Raymond Burr and getting blitzed on six Polynesian Pearl Divers.
Puerto Rican rum, Demerara rum, lime juice, orange juice, Gardenia Mix, Angostura bitters, Garnish with edible orchid, pineapple leaf. Blend in ice. Serve with straw.
Some day I’m going to try these.

1 1/2 ounces gin 1/2 ounce dry vermouth Garnish: Spanish olive (no pimento) And that's all you need to make a Nick and Nora Martini, Nick and Nora shake their Martinis. Nick even gives a bartender a lesson when we first see him in The Thin Man 1934, "The important thing is the rhythm. Always have rhythm in your shaking. Now a Manhattan you shake to fox-trot time, a Bronx to two-step time, a Dry Martini you always shake to waltz time". :max_bytes(150000):strip_icc():format(webp)/nick-and-nora-martini-720x720-primary-cffc8e0935714d9785d27d48ac44f6da.jpg)

Katharine Hepburn's "five o'clock daiquiri" ub SUDDENLY LAST SUMMER would be just the thing to celebrate having your inconveniently garrulous relatives lobotomised! :max_bytes(150000):strip_icc():format(webp)/__opt__aboutcom__coeus__resources__content_migration__liquor__2018__04__23143458__daiquiri-720x720-recipe-09f1d5665a794eddbbfb997876736136.jpg) From Liquor.com website The Daiquiri was supposedly invented in 1898 in the eponymous mining town of Daiquiri on the southeastern tip of Cuba by an American mining engineer named Jennings Cox. It was introduced in the United States a decade later, when a U.S. Navy medical officer brought the recipe from Cuba to Washington, D.C. This three-ingredient gift has pleased millions of palates over the ensuing years, including household names like Ernest Hemingway and President JFK. Yet no drink has suffered more abuse than the Daiquiri. In the century-plus since its inception, the granddaddy of rum cocktails has gone from the pride of Havana to an unloved extra on the back of a Señor Frog’s table tent. Even today, as the craft cocktail movement reaches full tilt, most people too often associate the Daiquiri with neon-colored adult slushies, the stuff of spring-break blackouts and mind-splitting hangovers. Featured Video Curbside Cocktails: Havana, Daiquiri But in its purest form, the Daiquiri is simple and sublime, a delicate blend of rum’s sweetness with the raw freshness of sugar and lime juice. Whole lives have been dedicated to balancing those three elements. That each ingredient should be of the highest quality goes without saying, though even then the Daiquiri can throw you a curve. Choose an overly sweet rum or use too much sugar, and you’re left sipping liquid candy; overdo the citrus, and the cocktail drowns in a puckering pool of acidity. This recipe walks the knife edge with a mix of light rum and a darker demerara sugar syrup. The two accentuate the best qualities in each other and pair perfectly with the fresh lime juice. One trick when juicing the limes: Use a hand-squeezer (or your own hands). The oils from the rind add an extra flash of intensity that gives the cocktail a nice, bright edge. Ingredients 2 ounces light rum 1 ounce lime juice, freshly squeezed 3/4 ounce demerara sugar syrup Garnish: lime twist Steps Add the rum, lime juice and demerara sugar syrup to a shaker with ice, and shake until well-chilled. Strain into a chilled coupe. Garnish with a lime twist.

Socialite Holly Golightly likes to drink , "...Promise me one thing: don't take me home until I'm drunk - very drunk indeed..." . Champagne Cocktails, Manhattan's a Mississippi Punch ( cognac, bourbon, rum), her #1 favourite the "White Angel". Truman Capote’s infamous Breakfast at Tiffany’s novella, mentions this very particular drink, one that packs a real punch, just a few pages into the book. Holly Golightly orders a White Angel cocktail at the beginning of the tale, which is described as “something new… one-half vodka, one-half gin, no vermouth.” Publicity shot...

The Seven Year Itch:
The Girl (Marilyn Monroe): "Do you have gin?"
Richard (Tom Ewell): "Yes, I do."
The Girl: "How do you drink gin? Gin and Soda?"
Richard: "Well, there's gin and tonic. And, there's gin and Vermouth ... that's a Martini."
The Girl: "Oh, that (Martini) sounds good. I'd like one of those. A big, tall one!"

'Bright college days, oh, carefree days that fly, To thee we sing with our glasses raised on high, Let's drink a toast as each of us recalls, Ivy-covered professors in ivy-covered halls, Turn on the spigot, Pour the beer and swig it, And gaudeamus igit-ur ...'

How I wish your tantalizing thread had come during my youth when I swaggered up to the bar like John Wayne off the dusty trail and ordered, "Whiskey."
I would really like to sample all those civilized concoctions submitted by everyone, but I'm in my twilight years and long off the booze.
Anyone know where I can pick up a cheap Time Machine for a quick trip back to my hellion past?

In his inaugural 007 efforts in CASINO ROYALE, Daniel Craig establishes his Bondian credentials right at the start:
"three measures of Gordon's; one of vodka; half a measure of Kina Lillet. Shake it over ice, and add a thin slice of lemon peel." _____________________________________________________________________
But later (after losing ten million at the tables playing 'Texas-Hold-Em'), he is less cocktail fastidious when the bartender asks if he wants his Vodka Martini 'shaken or stirred' --
"DO I LOOK LIKE I GIVE A DAMN?"

I was living and working in Dallas when Casino Royale came out. I kept waiting to hear the word "Texas" spoken in relation to the game. Alas, the dealer calls it "No-limit Hold-'Em"." No Texas.
