Wow Iβm surprised considering the Cards played so well in the second half of the season and got a Wild Card slot.

Makes no sense unless they were going to do it regardless.

Wow, three straight playoff trips, 17 game win streak, lost to a team that won 16 more games and he gets the ax. Still, a team with expectations.

Mozeliak preferred the teachings of Descartes while Shildt was more of a John Locke disciple.

Buh bye. I won't shed any tears, I was never a fan; but I'm not a fan of Mo either. "Philosophical differences"...guess that means Shildt didn't agree with Mo's philosophy of winning just enough games to squeak into the playoffs and then make an early exit.

I wonder if AJ Preller will look at him. Compared to the candidates that the Pads are supposedly interested in, Shildt is a babe in the woods.

Off to the Mets? Or maybe the Yanks? Prince Hal Stenbrenner axed a good chunk of Aaron Boone's staff. Sign of things to come?

If the truth is known Shildt probably wanted them to spend in the offseason and, Mo being Mo, decided to send him packing. I think they want a "yes man" as their manager. I still think this is the reason LaRussa retired.
