Shades of Denkinger and Jim Joyce. No Eric Gregg, though.

I'd say that the Mookie Betts contract is still paying off nicely.

That call is up with Don Dekkinger and Jim Joyce. Where do they get these nincompoops? Great game and that will be he talking point. You never see first base umps call swings on obvious nonswings. The opposite happens a lot. They should always give the hitter the benefit of the doubt. I'm not saying that Flores puts the next pitch into the Bay but no game should end like that and the umpires should know that.
go Braves

I'd say that the Mookie Betts contract is still paying off nicely. Scary to imagine what that Red Sox be if he is still with that team.

Doubt Flores would have lasted more than another pitch. Main difference in the game was fielder positioning. Giants hit em where they weren't ain't.

This might be the straw that broke the camel's back on these "non reviewable" calls. Absolute bullshit and I didn't care who won.

Kapler and Bailey kept Doval in too long. He had control issues all year. When a rookie hits the first batter, a pitching coach should have the hook ready right then and there. No way he should have been pitching to Bellinger.
I'm tire of the "so fitting" hoseshit too. And the non-stop "The Dodgers won 106 games and had to play the WC game." Boo fucking hoo. Win 108 then. Before the WC, they wouldn't have even got the WC. Ask the 1993 Giants, the 1980 Orioles, the 1954 Yankees if they would have done a handstand for the Wild Card. Want it to be totally fair? Then eliminate the playoff altogether. Make baseball like the English Premier League. Team with the best record at the end of the season get the trophy, everyone else gets shit and shoved in it. Fate wasn't kind to the 1954 Indians, the 1960 Yankees, the 2006 Tigers et al

To think back, Dave Roberts outmanaged Gabe Kapler. Roberts took Urias out the right time when the batter starting to make contact with the ball. The fielding position was fantastic. The guarding the line prevented a rally. I swear I thought the Crawford liner in the 9th was going to be a double, or at least a hit. Scherzer was a great move closing out the game. Kapler kept Doval a bit too long when obvious he is having control problem. I even felt that Webb could have gone a bit deeper into the game when he still have the good stuff.

Fate wasn't kind to the 1954 Indians, the 1960 Yankees, the 2006 Tigers et al During the 2016 NBA final, there was a stat shown on TV that all major sports, the best regular season record ever did not win the championship except for NBA until that Warrior team in 2016. The 2001 Mariners & 1906 Cubs, the 2007 Patriots, and the 95-96 Red Wings. So team with best record in the regular season doesn't necessarily translate to success in the playoff.
That is the beauty of the playoff system when the team has to win against the best instead of feeding on the mediocre teams to prop up the winning record.

I'd say that the Mookie Betts contract is still paying off nicely. Conspiracy theory around these parts is that the Sox actually offered him more to stay, but he turned them down. They decided trading a generational talent for cents on the dollar was actually a better PR hit than having to admit the guy flat out didn't want to be here at any price. Considering mysterious stories somehow always leak out tarnishing the image of players/coaches/execs that leave the organization, and that hasn't happened with Betts, you have to wonder if it isn't true.
