What Should Be Done With Umps/Refs Who Make Bad Calls

Okay, I've seen worse than the end of the Giants-Dodgers game. Brett Hull's fat fucking skate in the 1999 Stanley Cup. Don Dekkinger in the 1985 World Series, the soccer ref who missed Maradona's "Hand of God" goal in the World Cup. And I'm in no way in favor of robot umpires. And these guys are human, they fuck up just like players who make ghastly errors. But should they be held accountable in some way? The umpire crew in this game, especially Gabe Morales, will never even have to explain himself. Should there be some punishment for mucking a call? Yeah, you don't fine or suspend a player for a game breaking error so it's kind of a slippery slope. Gets worse when you see utter incompetents like Angel Hernandez and Jerry Meals umpire game after game. Apparently they have no repercussions.

I hesitate to include Jim Joyce. In the end, he only hurt Armando Galarraga and people remember him more now than the would have if Joyce had made the right call. And Joyce had the ball to admit he fucked up. Gabe Morales never will\
