It looks really interesting.
But if they kill Elnore (esp. without his finally getting to pet a cat), I will riot. I will also be very upset if they kill Raffi.

The best Star Trek time travel adventure of all time was Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home.
This looks more like the Star Trek: Voyager time travel episode (to the 1990s).

Yeah, “The Voyage Home” was a good one. But I remember liking the Voyager episode as well. Sarah Silverman was in it, long before she became a well-known comedian. I remember thinking that it was a missed opportunity they didn’t bring the character to the ship and make her a recurring character in Voyager - that would have been a first in Star Trek, a character from the present day as part of the crew.

Yeah, cause while we've had characters from the past as guest-stars, and we've had Trek characters from different timelines/points in time, show up and even have big roles (i.e. the crew going back in time for VOYAGE, the crew going forward in DISCOVERY), but to have had a 'present day' person meant to be a one-off, ending up as a permanent fixture in the 23rd/etc. century, onboard a Starship.... that would have been awesome.

Decent first episode. Two recurring characters from TNG made an appearance. One of them probably and hopefully won't come back for the rest of the season. The other one is a fan favourite but I never really liked him.

Question: Can you watch the second season without watching the first? The dvds are waiting at the library, but I haven't watched the first.

If you jump directly to S2 you won't have trouble understanding the story since it's independent from that of S1, but you won't know any of the characters other than Picard himself and Seven of Nine.

Question: Can you watch the second season without watching the first? The dvds are waiting at the library, but I haven't watched the first. I guess that depends on what kind of answer you are looking for... As with any TV Series... If you start with Season 2, you are going to miss the introduction of new characters and settings that were established in Season 1 "Picard" takes place about 20 years after the events seen in "Star Trek: Nemesis"... Times have changed and the TNG crew have moved on... Picard is no longer in Starfleet, and is living at his family's vineyard... "Picard" doesn't feature the stand alone episode stories as depicted in TNG... Season 1 features one Story Arc that takes place during all the episodes... Throughout the season, Picard assembles a new 'crew' to resolve the Story Arc by the end of Season 1... The first episode of Season 2 takes place after Season 1 with the same 'crew' and such, but the entire Season 2 features a new Story Arc that Picard must resolve... It is believed that Season 3, will be a similar format to Season 2, but with an entire new Story Arc. You don't have to watch Season 1 to understand the Story Arc for Season 2, but it does help to have seen Season 1 to understand how Season 2 begins. If you don't watch Season 1 first, you will probably be confused and have a bunch of questions.

I think the only thing I didn't like about this season was the Good Borg.Borg can never be friendly, sorry. Not unless we're talking about ones like Hugh that were separated from the Collective.
That being said, the Q about face was shockingly touching and believable. He genuinely seemed like a remorseful "god" that knew he was dying.

I also didn't like the friendly Borg, I was hoping some new writers would be able to make the Borg proper villains again, alas they did the opposite WTF? I felt there was a number of missed opportunities in season 2 - i.e. elaborating on the back stories between Picard & Guinan and Q & Guinan, also having some flashbacks with young Jean Luc & Robert Picard - I'm puzzled why Robert was completely left out of the season - perhaps they could've attempted to give Jean Luc closure over the death of Robert.
