The 80s and especially the horror genre, sure came forward with some all time great looking classic artwork/posters. Even though in many cases, the cover art would probably be closest to being the real highlight. Anyway, not saying all of these where complete turds, some in fact, managed to back up the awesome artwork, where as others, well, maybe not so much. The many Italian zombie movies of the late 70s and into the 80s would never shy away of having some striking and memorable movie posters:    |

 Among my all time favorite horror movie posters, is the beautiful Arachnophobia (1990) artwork, which sadly both of my DVD copies had decided to leave out the little eight-legged creature, whom really was the star of the show. Sleep Walkers (1992) and a few other early 90s horror releases, also came with similar looking (in colors, shades and style) movie artwork, but I think Arachnophobia was also a fun and very enjoyable horror film, which managed to include comedy and adventure into the mix, and succeeded very well with that. |

Arachnophobia is one of my favorite horror movies covers. Fun movie that manages to balance everything very well.

 Anyway, speaking of bad or just downright terrible (but still kind of funny) 80s horror films, with far superior movie artwork. I guess people heading into the local video rental stores, finding this impressive looking VHS cover, then only to later on find out that the Loch Ness creature, sure as hell, did not look anything like what the cover "promised" it to be: 
The Nail Gun Massacre (1985) is another "classic", having quite an impressive movie poster, even a neat tagline as well. But I guess those expecting anything remotely close to that artwork, would be in for quite a surprise. However, for my part, I was pleasantly surprised at how fun this cheesy low budget film turned out to be. But I can fully understand, not everyone would share my enthusiasm about what they got in return.

Sort of reminds me of the Q: The Winged Serpent cover art.

No doubt about it, the 80s had the best horror poster art. Still not seen Mausoleum, but Dead and Buried I pretty much picked up on the spot, when I stumbled upon the awesome looking Blue Underground DVD back in the late 00s, and it turned into one of those fine impulsive purchases, where film sure as hell managed to follow up the impressive cover art, and became a favorite from the early 80s era. Sadly, the trailer (I am glad I did not watch that before I saw the movie) as so many other good or great horror titles of that time, seemed to do its very best, to spoil the fun.

Another classic, and one I am thinking of either bringing along during the final week of October. That or The Church (1989), which again has a bit of similar looking style or design to its movie poster, and I have always been a big fan of the Anchor Bay DVD releases of these fun and gory Italian supernatural slashers:

Mausoleum is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. You seem like much more a fan of camp and cheese than me though, so who knows. Besides it being extremely cheesy and campy, it is also horribly written and directed imo. It makes something like Amytiville II look like a masterpiece by comparison.
