Griezmann goes for a dropping ball with a very high boot, but he strikes Firmino's head and the ref issues a straight red for the Atlético man shortly into the second half. You have to say that Griezmann's foot was extremely high, his leg at more than 45 degrees to the rest of his body.

Drama. The ball is floated into the home area on '76. Hermosa and Jota are waiting for it to land. But Hermosa is deemed to have barged Jota to the ground. It's a penalty. It'll be Salah. Salah. Driven low into the corner for 2-3. hat was silly by Hermosa, the ball was still descending when he fouled Jota.

Jota on Giminez. In the area, VAR check for Atlético penalty...
I have to say there was contact but Giminez went down as if well-rehearsed. Luis Suarez is eyeing up the ref at the pitchside monitor, baring and grinding his teeth, look at him - he really wants to take this penalty...but he won't get the chance because it's not given!

The drama here is over.
I for one can't tell you the last time Atlético participated in a 5-goal match. In fact, I can, back in April this year. You don't see it very often and but for Griezmann's sending-off we might have seen more. The ref blows up and Klopp sets about shaking everyone's hand but I didn't see Simeone shake hands with him, in fact I didn't see Simeone at all.

Pretty disappointed in Simeone's behaviour and Atletico's theatrics in general.
Ok Griezmann may not have been looking directly at Firmino but I'm not sure what planet they were on to think you could contest having your boot raised - studs up! - to head height and get away with kicking someone in the face!
And the guy who got Milner booked was just as bad. Milner's elbow didn't even reach his neck yet he went down holding his face!
Really poor as I've always quite admired Atletico and seen them as above the cheating big two but maybe things are changing...
