It was, but not anymore - I'm taking him since three posters have drafted since my last turn. David - An American Werewolf in London (1981) I was also surprised how unpopular werewolves were in the draft, myself included. You and goons took the two that came to mind first for me. I went with a 90s HBO movie because I knew nobody else would. Max Dire. Another character in the movie's last name is Garou. You've got Lupin for HP. Not very subtle with these names, are they? I got a WW character in my pocket. But WW, Mummy, Vampire struggled me a bit. As they just aren't movies I seek out

There are some other really good werewolves to choose from, some of which are more recent.

Werewolf - Max Dire (Full Eclipse, 1993) I don't know that one. Gotta check it out. Yeah it's great. And by great I mean corny as hell. 1993 tv movie, that's all I really need to say. One liners, overacting and a hell of a lot of fun. And a killer theme song.

Often cited as the first ever horror film.

If you're familiar with Méliès from A Trip to the Moon or some if hisnither better known films (or from Scorcese's Hugo) you'd kinda know what to expect. Some optical and editing effects as well as semi-elaborate props and sets. This is very, very early and some of these are things he's still working through. It's basically one shot, or framed as one still shot, it's very rudimentary, but there is an eeriness about it, as I think is innate in a lot of old silent horror movies. It's only a few mins long, and I'm sure it's on youtube.

Evil Genius - Sebastian Caine (Hollow Man, 2000) Haven't seen that in forever. I remember thinking the effects were cool but really disliking it otherwise. Yeah, I was tempted to take the original Invisible Man, and then the 2020 Invisible Man before ultimately deciding on this one. Something about the way this movie was written. I think the guy in IM 2020 is just as dangerous and megalomaniacal, but somehow Bacon's character seems meaner.

I'll keep it going with one of first of its kind and go with the alien leader from A Trip to the Moon (1902) also by Méliès. They're pretty creepy and set a template for scary aliens going forward.

Monster Hunter, solo - Van Helsing (2004)
The movie sucks, but he's the monster hunter. Plus, Hugh Jackman. Badass.
