The weather is shit. Don't know how many of you are in the northeast, but the Nor'easter is definitely pissing in my Cheerios. Rained for three days and we aren't getting the worst of it. Never fails
Only silver lining, it's rain and not snow. If it was December, we would probably have about 30 to 40 inches on the ground. And we always get Lake Effect after a coast storm goes through.

It's a wild scene around these parts. Relentless rain today.
Even weirder was seeing the 49ers game in torrential rain the other day, since California doesn't have weather.

We usually just catch the edge of a Nor'easter. We are nearly 400 miles to the ocean so we don't get the worst. A lot of times, the Nor'easter are when we laugh at NYC and Philly. "Ha ha, y'all got 20 inches and we got two". But they bring Lake Effect because of the counter clockwise rotation. This one is drowning us. Over three inches of rain and one inch of rain is 10 inches of snow.

Yeah it's the raw stuff out there. I got most of my yard stuff done the last two weekends. Of course I'll have to mulch up the leaves again (twice so far, at least two more times ahead) as soon as it stops raining (which at the moment isn't in the forecast until next Monday). Just hope it isn't doing this on Halloween night, though my son's Ghostbusters costume would look more authentic if he was soaked through.

Thursday looks to be nice then rain again this weekend.
Everytime I take a week off, it rains. I ought to rent myself out to drought stricken areas. Want a week of rain, hire me then give me a week off. Crops will grow.

Ok so the winds started to hit last night and are still going pretty good this morning. No trees down at home or here in the office, so that's a good sign. Also, I may only have to clean up the leaves one last time this season since the winds are knocking everything out of the trees. Hope you already got your foliage tours in, folks. (It was past peak, anyway.)

I'm in Jersey about 15 minutes from the beach and yeah, this sucks. Cold, nasty rain. Today it stopped but all kinds of wind out there. I actually prefer snow to this weather. My advice is a bit of bourbon while you are on that porch!

Not sure how it is for you now, but around here in Westchester and Connecticut the substantial rain has also cooled down the temp here as it's now moved out of the area and it finally feels like fall, this is cool and breezy weather is my favorite, along with the fall scenery. But I also love snow.

Oh hell yes. In October, 2011, we had a storm that dumped about 15 inches. Not a catastrophe around here. But the leaves were still on the trees. So the trees came down. And the power lines with them. The snow melted the next day but we went without power for nine days. Most of the Southtowns had to be rewired like it was the first days of electricity. We had just bought this house. It had power but no furniture. Our old apartment had furniture but no power. So we had to go shower and eat at the empty warehouse and sleep in the Little Apartment on the Prairie (felt like a 19th century dwelling)

Lost power for three days in that storm. I was out shoveling the driveway at night and all I could hear were the trees snapping in the woods. One came down three feet from the house. This was our old place, we lived at the end of a dead end street. Lucky we didn't get blocked in by debris.

That happened here as well. Now nearly as much snow but the power lines came down all the same. I think it was a year or two before that there was a freak blizzard on Halloween itself, and then Hurricane Sandy devastated the area a few days before Halloween a couple of years later.

It was a crazy time for weather. A tornado came through Springfield in June of 2011 (not common around here, needless to say), Hurricane Irene devastated Vermont of all places in August, and then we had that October blizzard all in the same year. There was also an earthquake with an epicenter in Virginia in August of 2011 which we felt all the way up here at our place. A few years later in 2014, a microburst completely wiped out the trees on one side of a mountain in my area. Classic headline from a paper I kept:

The NY area had the bizarre scenario of having pretty major hurricanes in consecutive years, Irene then Sandy, in an area that it really not used to them or prepared to deal with them. I wonder if southerner laughed at us the way we laugh at a city like Atlanta completely shutting down when they get a half of an inch of snow.

That Halloween freak blizzard was the worst. I believe it was actually the day before Halloween. I lived in North Jersey at the time in a very hilly area. Lines down everywhere and they weren't prepared for plowing and salting and no power. It sucked! I was working as a bartender at a banquet hall and the drive in to work was brutal. Was working a wedding that night at the majority of the guests didn't show. My oldest was very little then and Halloween basically being canceled was brutal. They got to go trick or treating like a few days later where it was still cold with snow all on the ground!

I wonder if southerner laughed at us the way we laugh at a city like Atlanta completely shutting down when they get a half of an inch of snow. I've seen a few, all snow related
The Blizzard of '77. You could see that fucker coming off the lake, like those old Dust Bowl pics. We only got a few inches of new, but the wind took every flake of snow form Canada and dumped it on us. The west side of out 2 1/2 story house was completely buried, over the roof. The otherside, bare ground.
The Christmas Chusterfuck. Six out of seven days in 2001 (I think), we got at least 15 inches. Up to 25. I had to shovel snow from the sidewalk into my pickup and drive it two miles and dump it. I had no place to put it.
The aforementioned "Snowtober"
"Snowvember 2014". 77 inches in 24 hours. No one had ever seen anything like it. It was literally putting it on my driveway faster than I could plow it off. My wife was at work for three days straight. Even got on the local news, going out on a snowmobile to deliver a baby. Funny thing, we got 77 in West Seneca, where we live. The city, five miles north, got 16. My sister lives in Lockport, about seven miles above the city, got 5 inches. Bitch. The snow piles that the southtowns removed were still around in the middle of August!
