Warren Spahn (local boy makes good!) and Julio Gotay? There's an extreme of success. Spahn had nearly as many wins as gotay had games played.

Looking forward to it, should be a fun series, both teams have explosive lineups and a lot of good hitters.

Hern, sports editor of the Boston Post (ceased publication in 1956), and published on Sept. 14, 1948: First, weβll use Spahn, Then weβll use Sain, Then an off day, Followed by rain. Back will come Spahn Followed by Sain And followed, We Hope, By two days of rain.

Braves get a groundout with the bases loaded and 2 outs, escaping with no runs allowed.

Bill Voiselle was 13-13 with 3.66 ERA and 1.465 WHIP. And Vern Bickford, 11-5, 3.27 ERA and 1.288 WHIP. Comparable to Johnny Sain's. And a useful vet in '44 St Louis Brown icon Nels Potter. But Voiselle was hurt and the Braves panicked. Rightfully, the lost the series to the Indians, 4-2. Tribe had Bob Lemon and the Feller fellow.
