Jaws 2, simply because I haven't seen Halloween II since the early 80s and can barely remember it.

If someone doesn't consider Halloween II canon than how would they be able to consider H20 canon? I realize you must be joking because of the contradiction, but I have a hard time telling when you are serious or not. As for Halloween II being canon, it clearly is. Whether I like it or not is beside the point. The movie is produced and written by John Carpenter and is not only a direct sequel, but takes place the same night as the original. No one dislikes Halloween II more than John Carpenter. He's also involved with the new ones, which retcon H2 out of existence. I look at the new ones as basically fan fiction myself, but there's really no clear canon.

Generally whatever is currently treated canon. The Star Wars EU was canon until Disney. The Halloween Jamie Lloyd trilogy was canon until H20. H20 was canon until 2018.

The only thing I remember about Jaws 2 was there was some girl in a boat who kept screaming hysterically for the longest time- over 10 minutes- and I really just wanted the shark to shut her up. To this day I am not sure if she yells "SHARK!" or "SHAWN!"...

I just saw Jaws 2 again, and it still blows. The only possible new angle is Brody being overly paranoid, but it's not like there's ever any doubt there's another shark so it's just going through the same motions of no one listening to him, including that goddamn mayor who just forgot his lesson in the first movie. Where's Lee Harvey Oswald when you need him?
It'd be like if Halloween II opened with Loomis warning Sheriff Bracket that Michael is back and Bracket ignoring him. While HII is overrated, at least it's not a total rehash like this.

Part of Halloween 1978's chilling fear is that Michael Myers... he's gone, without a trace.

Jaws 2 is a great sequel. I may be the only person on Earth who actually favours it over the original due to the stronger horror movie vibes.
Halloween II is average. It has some memorable moments and Pleasance delivers a striking OTT performance, but it's in most respects far inferior to the 1978 movie.
