I don't think I've ever seen this comparison before, but I think it's a good one. Both are decent enough movies which carry the burden of having to live up to their classic predecessors, neither of which do. Both also do a surprisingly decent job of maintaining the feel and atmosphere of their predecessors, even with different directors at the helm.
I think I'd give Halloween II the slight edge.

Both are mediocre follow-ups to classics, but if forced to choose I would say Jaws II is the slightly better sequel, simply because of the focus on Sheriff Brody and him dealing with the after effects of the first movie. Laurie Strode is given next to nothing to do in Halloween II and Loomis just becomes more annoying than interesting. Sheriff Brody still makes for an interesting protagonist in Jaws II, he is just thrown into a dull and unnecessary story.
5/10 for both.

Halloween II > Jaws 2
Halloween III: Season of the Witch > Jaws 3-D
Curious to see if Jaws: The Revenge is so awful it's enjoyable compared to blah Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers

I prefer Halloween 4 to Halloween II (Halloween IV is one of the more fun movies in the franchise imo), but Jaws: The Revenge isn't so awful it is enjoyable. It is so dumb that it is fun to make fun of after watching it, but it is very tedious to sit through.

Jaws 2 works as good follow-up sequel. B
Halloween II doesn't work as a credible direct continuation sequel. C-
For me, Jaws 2 is canon because sure why not. I don't acknowledge any Halloween sequel as canon.

I don't acknowledge any Halloween sequel as canon. Not even H20?

I don't acknowledge any Halloween sequel as canon. Not even H20? If someone doesn't consider Halloween II canon than how would they be able to consider H20 canon? I realize you must be joking because of the contradiction, but I have a hard time telling when you are serious or not. As for Halloween II being canon, it clearly is. Whether I like it or not is beside the point. The movie is produced and written by John Carpenter and is not only a direct sequel, but takes place the same night as the original.

HALLOWEEN II by process of elimination. It isn't Jaws 2, one of the 100 worst movies ever made, even dumber and more depressing than Jaws 4.
Halloween II 3/10 Jaws 2 1/10, Should be a Zero if we could rate that low. Or a negative number.

I don't acknowledge any Halloween sequel as canon. Not even H20? I revisited that after H2018 & found it borderline juvenile & tame.

The girl in Jaws 2 is cute, but that's about it. It's otherwise pretty light on actual Jaws action. I'd have to go with Halloween 2.

Both are respectable yet mediocre follow ups, I give both a 6/10 but jaws 2 is probably the better movie

The only thing I remember about Jaws 2 was there was some girl in a boat who kept screaming hysterically for the longest time- over 10 minutes- and I really just wanted the shark to shut her up.
