Gee, if I had Palmer, Cuellar, Flanagan, Stone, McGregor, and 250 other Cy Young winner, I'd love three run homers too.
And lets quit pretending the Earl of Baltimore was a great manager. 1480 wins, one WS title. Whee. Lost to the "Miracle" Mets and twice to much weaker Pittsburgh teams. My grandmother could have won more titles with the talents he had.

Don't know about much weaker. 4 games difference in both years, with each team playing only within their league. But the O's did have home advantage in odd-number years.

The Dodgers tendered qualifying offers to Corey Seager and Chris Taylor before Sunday's deadline but chose not to make one to Clayton Kershaw.

So I was listening to some ball talk earlier, some Sportsnet (Canada) pod they aired over radio.. & some good ideas:
- Pitch clock has to come in for the regular season, full stop. It'll be soon because new CBA. 4 hour playoff games are fine because best teams, ads spread the gameplay out, etc. But when it's Angels-Rangers or Marlins-Rockies in August without anything on the line going 4.5 hrs, it's broken.
- The shift will only disappear once guys get rewarded i.e. PAID for batting out of it. .200 30 HR guys still make the cake these days over most .290 slappers. Anecdote was about Marquis Grissom who went to arbitration one winter & highlighted his stolen bases... to which the Expos retorted we don't pay for stolen bases. His steals went down next season. The hosts were reminiscing about batting titles used to being a big deal. As they asked - can anyone name the 2021 NL batting titlist? AL?? I couldn't.
- Re. the Rays domination of the new game - because they don't care about miles on their pitchers, they just put in 3-5 young guys throwing a million mph all game long, & if they wanna get paid by the Yankees once their arms are about to fall off, good luck. To that point, the hosts wondered what HOF credentials will be like 15-20yrs from now. 100 wins & a Cy Young? lols

It'll be soon because new CBA. - To me, this is a no brainer. I love he fact that baseball has no clock. But no one can relish seeing one pitch followed by 90 seconds of rigamarole. This has to go to the hitters too. A batter stepping out and adjusting his gloves when he didn't swing should be punishable by death. But I've read the players are opposed. Why?
- The shift will only disappear once guys get rewarded i.e. PAID for batting out of it. My entire lifetime of hitting a baseball comes from batting cages. But I know that I can hit to different areas by adjusting my stance. if my crippled ass can do that, why can't a major leaguer? Oh, Yuli Gurriel and Trea Turner.
To that point, the hosts wondered what HOF credentials will be like 15-20yrs from now. 100 wins & a Cy Young? lols Could be. I'm sure the 19th Century pitchers would laugh at the HOF credentials of Whitey Ford or John Smoltz. The game changes. I'm hoping the universal DH and the proposed "double switch", meaning if you pull a pitcher, you lose the DH, will help stabilize the pitching conundrum. I think MLB realizes that the "opener" shit isn't good for the game.

I should add that includes managers & GM's alike btw yes? That goes for the 3-5 young arms into oblivion use also. Actually, it probably does start with GM's? They're the roster selectors.
