Tigers sign Eduardo Rodriguez to a 5-year, $77m contract. The Tigers figure that their pitching park, coupled with a defense that has to be better than the Red Sox, will justify bringing in Rodriguez to anchor the young staff. A solid, if unsexy, addition to a team in need of veteran arms.
Julio Lugo, 45, dies of what is believed to be a heart attack. Man, it's a tough time to be a 45-year old former journeyman MLB player right now...

Sad news on both fronts. Wonder who the Sox will get to replace Eduardo? I'll be honest, I never liked Lugo as a player. He was a bust for the Sox even though he ended up winning a ring here. Heart attack at 45, damn. RIP.

A solid, if unsexy, addition to a team in need of veteran arms. That was quick. Bespeaks of someone who wanted a change of scenery. I hope it won't drive the Sox to overspend for a starter. I don't want to start reading "Red Sox showing interest in Max Scherzer" Or JV. Or Clay Kershaw

I could see them going after Stroman. He's coming off a really good year and I don't see a reunion with the Mets. He'll get 5-years, $120m or so.

So might Gausman or even Syndergaard (tho he'll probably take the Mets qualifying offer). Sox need another starter but its not urgent. They could flip Garrett Whitlock to the rotation and then go with Sale, Eovaldi, Pivetta, and Houck. But I like Whitlock in the bullpen and that's a thi rotation. I just don't want to see a bidding war for a starter who will sign for five years and give ow good ones.

Arozarena AL ROY. Does last year not count or something? His first game was with the Cardinals in 2019. He only had 64 ab's in 2020, apparently under the limit

I missed this www.tampabay.com/sports/rays/2021/11/16/the-rays-flirtation-with-montreal-could-become-a-true-romance-this-week/The Tampa Bay/Montreal Rayspos? Am I the only one that remembers that baseball never really worked out on Montreal? When they had decent teams, late 70's- early 80's and mid 90's, they drew well, not jaw dropping. When they stunk, the Montreal people stayed home and counted the days until the Canadiens season started. And that stadium is still a joke. The CFL Alouettes play in a stadium half as big rather than Olympic. They sell well for a three game series but how will they do for 40 games?
