Ever played any old pc games but however it is possible that the game could mess up if you save too often. Causing some levels to be unbeatable? If you play doom 2 this could happen.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. It had a save point two-thirds of the way through the game (save points in that game were a floating book, there was no quick save option) that was actually corrupted, and if you saved your games by overwriting the previous save like I used to do, it was game over and you had to start again. I learnt to avoid that save point and use the next one. Hearts of Iron 3's save files are known to be notoriously error prone. It is possible to have all your progress zombified thanks to one corrupted save file, as in this example: forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/threads/american-aar-ai-experiments-in-hoi3.1104069/page-55So far, I have been lucky not to experience anything like that guy has, but I have had save files fail to open.
