RULE CHANGE ANNOUNCEMENT: To allow a little extra "elbow room" for quotes, I have increased the maximum number of lines from ten to twenty. All other rules remain the same.
13 Song Lyrics About Unhappy/Unsuccessful Relationships
01. "We Just Disagree" So let's leave it alone 'Cause we can't see eye-to-eye There ain't no good guy; there ain't no bad guy There's only you and me And we just disagree (Written by Jim Krueger, performed by Dave Mason)
02."D-I-V-O-R-C-E".- Tammy Wynette. Our little boy is four years old and quite a little man So we spell out the words we don't want him to understand Like T-O-Y or maybe S-U-R-P-R-I-S-E But the words we're hiding from him now Tears the heart right out of me. Our D-I-V-O-R-C-E becomes final today Me and little J-O-E will be goin' away I love you both and it will be pure H-E double L for me Oh, I wish that we could stop this D-I-V-O-R-C-E.
03. "It's a Heartache" 'It's a fool's game Nothing but a fools game Standing in the cold rain Feeling like a clown It's a heartache Nothing but a heartache Love him 'til your arms break Then he lets you down It ain't right with love to share When you find he doesn't care for you It ain't wise to need someone As much as I depended on you' (Written by Steve Wolfe / Ronnie James Scott, performed by Bonnie Tyler)
04. "After you've gone" After you've gone there's no denyin' You're gonna feel blue, and you're gonna feel sad You're gonna feel bad And you'll miss, and you'll miss, And you'll miss the bestest pal you ever had There'll come a time, now don't forget it There'll come a time when you'll regret it But baby, think what you're doin' I'm gonna haunt you so, I'm gonna taunt you so It's gonna drive you to ruin After you've gone, after you've gone away. (Lyrics by Henry Creamer, performed by many)
05. "Private Hell" The man that you once loved Is bald and fat and seldom in Working late as usual Your interest has waned You feel the strain The bed springs snap On the occasions he lies upon you Close your eyes and think of nothing but Private Hell Private Hell (Written by Paul Weller, performed by The Jam)
06. "It's Too Late" Stayed in bed all morning just to pass the time There's somethin' wrong here, there can be no denyin' One of us is changin', or maybe we just stopped tryin'.
And it's too late baby, now it's too late Though we really did try to make it Somethin' inside has died and I can't hide and I just can't fake it- Oh, no... (Words and Music by Carole King and Toni Stern)
07. "All Alone" - Irving Berlin All alone, I'm so all alone There is no one else but you All alone by the telephone Waiting for a ring, a ting-a-ling
I'm all alone every evening All alone, feeling blue Wond'ring where you are and how you are And if you are all alone too
08. "Breaking Up Is Hard to Do" Don't take your love away from me Don't you leave my heart in misery If you go then I'll be blue Cause breaking up is hard to do
Remember when you held me tight And you kissed me all through the night Think of all that we've been through And breaking up is hard to do
They say that breaking up is hard to do Now I know I know that it's true Don't say that this is the end Instead of breaking up I wish that we were making up again (Words and Music by Neil Sedaka and Howard Greenfield)
09. "Yesterday" Yesterday Love was such an easy game to play Now I need a place to hide away Oh, I believe in yesterday
Why she Had to go I don't know, she wouldn't say I said Something wrong, now I long for yesterday (Written by Paul McCartney, performed by The Beatles)
10. How I wish I could take back all the things I’ve said How I wish could be undone all the things I did Sitting here all alone now, devastated heart Darling, please you forgive me – I want a brand new start
You’re a time travel away You’re a time travel away from me All the love I ever felt, all the love you gave Is a time travelling away
11. "Who's Sorry Now" - Connie Francis (originally by Isham Jones)
Who's sorry now Who's sorry now Who's heart is aching for breaking each vow Who's sad and blue Who's crying too Just like I cried over you
Right to the end Just like a friend I tried to warn you somehow You had your way Now you must pay I'm glad that you're sorry now
Right to the end Just like a friend I tried to warn you somehow You had your way Now you must pay I'm glad that you're sorry now
12. "Breaking Us In Two"
Don't you feel like trying something new Don't you feel like breaking out Or breaking us in two You don't do the things that I do You want to do things I can't do Always something breaking us in two
You and I could never live alone But don't you feel like breaking out Just one day on your own Why does what I'm saying hurt you I didn't say that we were through Always something breaking us in two (Words & music by Joe Jackson)

We moved too fast, but i had no sign I would try to turn the hands of time I looked to you for a reason why The love we had passed me by
And as the sun would set you would rise Fall from the sky into paradise Is there no light in your heart for me You've closed your eyes you don't longer see
There were no lies between me and you You said nothing of what you knew But there was still something in your eyes Left me helpless and paralysed Nick Bracegirdle (Written-By, Producer)

While driving in my Cadillac, What to my surprise, A little Nash Rambler was following me, About one third my size. The guy must have wanted to pass me up, As he kept on beeping his horn. I'll show him that a Cadillac, Is not a car to scorn.

If you see her on the strip, don't try to choose her (Go granny, go granny, go granny, go) You might drive a go-er, but you'll never lose her (Go granny, go granny, go granny, go) Well, she's gonna get a ticket now, sooner or later 'Cause she can't keep her foot off the accelerator (Performed by Jan & Dean (later by the Beach Boys) -- credited to Don Altfeld and Roger Christian (and sometimes Jan Berry))

It depends on who has who locked in what cage. – Ray Bradbury
12. "Drivin' My Life Away" - Eddie Rabbit
Well the midnight headlights blind you on a rainy night, Gotta keep goin'. Steep grade up aheaad, Slow me down, makin' no time.
Ooh, I'm drivin' my life away, Lookin' for a better way for me. Ooh, I'm drivin' my life away, Lookin' for a sunny day, for me.

A quick note to Divtal: you apparently copied my signature quote. Amusing as the result may be, I hasten to assure everyone that--as far as I know--Ray Bradbury did not have a hand in writing "The Little Old Lady From Pasadena." However, recognizing that I am mostly at fault for neglecting to include the writers' credit for the song, I have gone back and edited my last contribution. Here is the corrected list: 13 Song Lyrics About DRIVING: 01. "Love Is A Stranger" - Eurythmics Love is a stranger In an open car To tempt you in And drive you far away 02. „Born to Be Wild“ - Steppenwolf Get your motor runnin‘ Head out on the highway Looking for adventure In whatever comes your way 03."I Can't Drive 55" - Sammy Hagar One foot on the brake and one on the gas, hey! Well, there's too much traffic, I can't pass, no! 04. "Beep Beep" - The Playmates While driving in my Cadillac, What to my surprise, A little Nash Rambler was following me, About one third my size. The guy must have wanted to pass me up, As he kept on beeping his horn. I'll show him that a Cadillac, Is not a car to scorn. 05. "Drive" - The Cars You can't go on Thinking nothing's wrong, oh no Who's gonna drive you home Tonight? 06. "Seven Little Girls" - Paul Evans Keep your mind on your driving. Keep your hands on the wheel. Keep your snoopy eyes on the road, ahead. 07. "Mercury Blues" If I had money tell you what I'd do I'd go downtown and buy a Mercury or two I'm crazy 'bout a Mercury, I'm crazy 'bout a Mercury I'm gonna buy me a Mercury and cruise it up and down the road (Written by K. C. Douglas and Robert Geddins; original title "Mercury Boogie." My favorite version is by David Lindley.) 08. "Route 66" (Verse 1) Well if you ever plan to motor west Jack take my way, it's the highway that's the best Get your kicks on Route 66 (Chuck Berry) 09. "Fast Car" So I remember when we were driving, Driving in your car, Speed so fast, I felt like I was drunk City lights lay out before us and your arm felt right wrapped 'round my shoulder (Tracy Chapman) 10. "Driving In My Car" - Madness I like driving in my car, it don't look much but I've been far I like driving in my car, even with a flat tyre I like driving in my car, it's not quite a Jaguar I like driving in my car, I'm satisfied I've got this far 11. "The Little Old Lady From Pasadena" It's the little old lady from Pasadena The little old lady from Pasadena (Go granny, go granny, go granny, go) Has a pretty little flowerbed of white gardenias (Go granny, go granny, go granny, go) But parked in a rickety old garage There's a brand new shiny super-stocked Dodge And everybody's sayin' that there's nobody meaner Than the little old lady from Pasadena She drives real fast and she drives real hard She's the terror of Colorado boulevard It's the little old lady from Pasadena If you see her on the strip, don't try to choose her (Go granny, go granny, go granny, go) You might drive a go-er, but you'll never lose her (Go granny, go granny, go granny, go) Well, she's gonna get a ticket now, sooner or later 'Cause she can't keep her foot off the accelerator (Performed by Jan & Dean (later by the Beach Boys) -- credited to Don Altfeld and Roger Christian (and sometimes Jan Berry)) 12. "Drivin' My Life Away" - Eddie Rabbit Well the midnight headlights blind you on a rainy night, Gotta keep goin'. Steep grade up aheaad, Slow me down, makin' no time. Ooh, I'm drivin' my life away, Lookin' for a better way for me. Ooh, I'm drivin' my life away, Lookin' for a sunny day, for me.

13 Lyrics from "I WANT" Songs (this link may be helpful: link ) NOTE: The words "I want" or "I wish" need not appear in the lyric...but probably will. 01 "Wouldn't It Be Loverly" [except for the title line, I'm omitting Eliza's Cockney pronunciation] All I want is a room somewhere Far away from the cold night air With one enormous chair Oh, wouldn't it be loverly Lots of chocolates for me to eat Lots of coal makin' lots of heat Warm face, warm hands, warm feet Oh, wouldn't it be loverly! (From My Fair Lady - Music by Frederic Loewe, Lyrics by Alan J. Lerner)

I want a new drug, one that won't make me sick One that won't make me crash my car Or make me feel three-feet thick

Hi, guys and gals! Merry Christmas Eve-Eve-Eve-Eve (AKA Winter Solstice, aka Shortest Day of the Year ) Evidently I wasn't clear about what "I want" in the instructions. What I meant was the "I Want" song that is sung--often by the leading female character--in most theatrical and movie musicals (as explained in Wikipedia: link). But since I was largely responsible for the confusion, it would be downright Scrooge-like of me to delete any of your posts. So I'll just continue with what "I Want" in the next post. Hope to see you there!

Part of That World I wanna be where the people are I wanna see, wanna see 'em dancin' Walkin' around on those--what do you call 'em?--oh, feet! Flippin' your fins, you don't get too far Legs are required for jumpin', dancin', Strollin' along down that--what's that word again?--street! Up where they walk, up where they run, Up where they stay all day in the sun-- Wanderin' free Wish I could bePart of that world! from The Little Mermaid - Music by Alan Menken, Lyrics by Howard Ashman
