You may be right, but it will kill the cinema-going experience stone dead, and it will soon be a case of No Bucks, No Buck Rogers. The numbers never li, so please don't talk utter drivel about "capitalism causing this" - it's the studios listening to a handful of woketards and trannie activists on social media causing this . BTW. What do you think Black cinemagoers in SA have wanted to see in the years since Democracy arrived? THE HARDER THEY FALL was directed by a young Black British singer songwriter who previously made a barely released 51-minute long piece of mediocre shit called They Die Before Dawn. So, on the strength of his utterly failed first film, Netflix gave this dickhead millions of dollars to realize his dream of making an totally crap, unrealistic and pathetically scored, acted and scripted woke western? Giving mediocre, inexperienced black filmmakers money to make rubbish is not going put bums on seats. BTW, The Oscar winning classics UNFORGIVEN and DANCES WITH WOLVES are genuine "revisionist" westerns. I wonder if you even know why PaulsLaugh? I just saw the movie and this is revisionist western done in the style of Quinton Tarantino. They even use the same chapel from Kill Bill. It is not meant to replace the standard western which itself was too often racist. One movie, that’s all it is. It's a shitty, mediocre film PaulsLaugh, that's all it is. But no doubt Netflix will soon release one of those unintentionally hilarious press statements calling it a great success and celebrating how 50 million of their subscribers watched at least 2 minutes of THEY Harder They Fall.

Also, as someone who has seen Django Unchained 5 times, I would suggest you watch it again.

I'm not prepared to make such a declaration while The Batman and Jurassic World: Dominion are waiting in the wings.

But the OP title is “The cinema experience in the USA is officially dead.” And you use this movie as an example of woke bullshit inferring in the classic motion picture experience. First off, this is a Netflix streaming production, therefore not “cinema.” By cinema, I think “moviegoing” as in going to the movies, an experience in, and of, itself. Second, this is revisionist history, not history. Inglorious Bastards is not history, but by twisting historical film tropes, the filmmakers attempt to comment on history and/or modern society’s current desires. And they are free to tell their narrative from their POV. You don’t have to agree with it. Movies can only indoctrinate a person if he or she lets it. What I see here is a confusion of genres and your personal dislike of this movie. I know the feeling when they just get up under your skin. Dances with Wolves does that to me. Liberal movies can be cloying like Lawrence Kasdan or spot on like Alan J Pakula. Your movie review rating is your opinion and I didn’t think movie was that great either, they get too millennial referency for me. I liked the cast. Jonathan Majors should do more westerns. But, I see this an no funeral dirge. News of the World is also streaming on HBOMax, made last year and it is a classic Western with all necessaries. Let’s agree to disagree. Do watch this latest season of Curb Your Enthusiasm - in which Larry takes the piss out of Netflix`s diverse group of product selectors. I did enjoy News of the World very much - which is more of a Post Civil War period piece (or what QT would call a Southern) than a straight western , but just for the record book, Old Henry (2021) is the best western of recent years.

I have to say that there has been a noticeable change in my movie-going habits. Before the pandemic I was common for me to go to the movies four or five times a week. I would watch not only the big releases in the multiplexes, but many "minor" movies as well. Now I don't do that anymore - not because I am afraid of going to the movies or something, just because I got used to spending more time at home.Anyone interested in the future of movies should read this quote. The change in behavior described here has happened to millions of people. The only way I can see it reversing is if theatres take big losses and offer films for $1 or something plus free food for a while to entice people back. The theater "habit" has been broken. Umm... do you not realize that this outbreak isn't over yet? And I'm pretty sure that some people would be scared to go to cinemas if they live in area infested with vaccine conspiracy theorists.
