I completely agree. If the writing sucks, so will the movie. And the actors under 50 suck, too. Daniel Day-Lewis is the best "young" actor. But then again, look at the shit that floats to the top in the US (the rest will follow the same patterns)

Wasn't "Shark Boy and Lava Girl" based on a story made up by Rodriguez's kid?

A video by The Critical Drinker? Seriously? Ugh!

I read that Edward Scissorhands was inspired by Tim Burton's childhood dream. The way I see it, a good idea can from from just about anyone. But it more often than not takes someone with experience to refine that idea into something watchable or at least to recognize it as being interesting for other adults.

I prefer old Star Trek for sure compared to the new ones. I wouldn't say the new ones are written by children, they are written for a target audience and they went for a certain style.

"Written by children, for children" - this is almost convincing and half right. It should say written to profit from keeping audiences infantile. When the old style showed examples to follow, the new one offers allowances to buy, or rather to vote for. It is in line with excusing egalitarian politics that make a business of appearing to care for the immature.
The demanding fatherly style of old, preparing the new generation for life, is replaced with the complacent motherly alternative, excusing failure to stay relevant.

The growth of the Science Fantasy genre itself is one of the strongest signs of the immaturity of people- 70 years ago it hardly existed and most movies dealt with the real world in some form. Wondering why Star Trek is childish is a sign that a person has no clue about their subject.

Space travel is kind of a thing right now. Do you have a TV no seriously do you have a TV purchased in the past 60 years?

They are doing what was done in the 1960's- going up just past the atmosphere and coming back. If this is "space travel" then splashing on the beach is "swimming in the ocean". Actual travel would be going somewhere. BTW- I have a very nice TV- but I don't get my science education from Star Trek screenwriters (as many do). Might be interesting to open a science book once and a while- try it!

There are plenty of modern masterpieces made every year. The idea that all movies made now are inherently bad is just a symptom of old people not wanting to like new things (your grandparents hated the stuff you liked too).

Wonderful video. I agree with every word.
Some of the replies suggest that there are still good movies. That's right but they depend on a good script written by an adult for other adults. Also, they are not the movies that make 80 gazillion dollars over opening weekend.
