So you admit Kennedy isn't very competent. This is gold. Not quite what I said. If she were competent this movie would not be delayed.

If she were competent this movie would not be delayed. So many delayed projects and fired/"creative differences" directors. There's something going on at Lucasfilm.

So, is it back on track?
"...Skogland steps in for Patty Jenkins, who was attached to direct and is pivoting to a producing role. Jenkins fell off as director so she could focus on her next two projects: Wonder Woman 3 and Star Wars: Rogue Squadron."

Who even knows at this point when it comes to Lucasfilm.

Can't they bring in Roger Corman to sort things out? He'd be able to knock out five or six films in one year and might even produce Star Wars related exploitation flicks.

"...Disney released an updated release calendar that runs from 2022 to 2028 that reflects a few changes. However, Rogue Squadron was not among the titles to get a new release date or be removed. As it currently stands, Disney and Lucasfilm still officially have Jeknins' Star Wars movie set for a December 22, 2023 release date. It appears that for now Disney is either still planning to have Rogue Squadron released in theaters next year or that the studios are not yet ready to announce where it will move to." screenrant.com/rogue-squadron-movie-star-wars-release-date-delay-reports/

Regardless if this movie gets off the ground or not, it's great Disney is at least treating one Expanded Universe writer right. So many of them got screwed over by the company when the Disney/Lucas deal happened.

At least, that's what I'm hoping. But they'd better get a move on if they plan on releasing it on time. These movies take a long time to shoot and have long post-production periods. With the official release date now less than two years away with no known start date for shooting, time is running out.

Hmmm....
"....Studio president Kathleen Kennedy confirms the Star Wars spinoff from filmmaker Patty Jenkins has been "pushed off to the side" as the Wonder Woman director continues to develop the script with writer Matthew Robinson."

I really wanted it to happen, but I saw this coming. General rule of thumb is that you need two years to make these big movies, and there wasn't even so much as a casting announcement with only a little over a year to go before the release date. At this point, I don't see any other movie being ready by December, 2023, which means they'll have to wait until 2025 to avoid conflict with Avatar.

Rather surprising very little has happened given the success of Top Gun: Maverick. Seems like that sort of movie rocking at the box office would be enough to convince Disney to give the go-ahead and strike while the iron was hot. But then again, Kennedy has not managed the brand very well.

In a statement, Jenkins reveals that Rogue Squadron is still under active development, and she remains attached to the project as its director.
