is quite good. It looks gorgeous. The turtle characters are portrayed better than ever.
The plot regarding the dynamics of the turtles' family disintegrating are very good IMO but the antagonist and his scheme was lame.
I don't think this gets enough love.
I didn't watch it when it was released because Kevin Smith provided a voice and yes I dislike Kevin Smith that much. Anyway it turns out that his role is very brief 😊

the Raph/Leo conflict is overplayed and the villain wasn't very interesting but it's worth it for the visuals and characterization of the heroes. the art direction was fantastic. good cast, too. i didn't realize that was Kevin Smith until just now.
i'm pretty frustrated that it got the reception it did while the current live action films seem to be going full steam ahead.

The second best film after the 1990 movie. I gave it a go last year and I thought the CGI did hold up well, sadly it never got any sequel, which I do like to think I would have enjoyed more than the two Michael Bay produced films. Now, I guess we will not be getting any new Turtle movie in some time, as the last one did seem to not quite live up to the box office/budget expectations, even when throwing in all kind of favorite figures from the 1980s-90 original cartoon show, and it still did not all that well.

I think we'll get another film eventually. The 2014 film was profitable and it certainly wasn't due to the reviews. The recent films were quite awful. But I think the TMNT are becoming almost like Spider-Man and Batman. They are mainstays in TV schedules and in toy aisles. The question is not if but when.

My beef with the film was that it was all in CGI. I didn't like the fact that we went from having three prior live-action films to everything being computerized, even though Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III (1993) was beyond stupid.
I think something like this would work better as a T.V. series (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2012)).
