Alien: covenant has the same problem as Prometheus. It's extremely stupid, with insanely stupid characters, no dialogues or scenes worth watching. It's just an expensive b-movie trash, written by an idiot incapable of writing. It's the second movie in a row from Ridley Scott that sucks. I have completely lost faith in this director. He is obviously become unable to tell apart good screenplays from bad. After these two turds in a row I am afraid that Blade Runner 2 will be mindless trash too.

No dialogues or scenes worth watching? The scene with David and Weyland in the beginning and all the David/Walter interactions were fascinating. There's plenty of great sequences. Second movie in a row from Ridley that sucks? The Martian was great.

Second movie in a row from Ridley that sucks? The Martian was great. I mean the second Alien movie. Anyway, The Martian was boring. Nobody mentally sane would rewatch it. It becomes obvious that Ridley Scott is only good with cinematography, but can't tell apart a good script from awful.

Oh, good, I was hoping you wouldn't like it. That means it's a good movie.

Ridley Scott has always been insanely overrated. More misses than hits but for some reason he still has morons worshiping everything he does.

Second movie in a row from Ridley that sucks? The Martian was great. Also Oram and David. 'I met the devil when I was young and I never forgot him'. Such astute characterisation. The most religious person I knew was abused as a child (not saying they all were, just it can fit) and that little inclusion creates a believable backstory to Oram. Plus a little mystery. Maybe he meant something else? I like Alien: Covenant salomonj. At first I was disappointed by the abandonment of the Prometheus story, but I'm thinking this was just a detour.

I thought Covenant was fantastic how? what was fantastic about it? Dont get me wrong, I didn't hate it (or loved it though), and I agree with the OP that the characters were really stupid (and did extremely stupid things, I cant believe that passed the script-doctoring phase) but I would like to know what made it "fantastic" in your eyes? Plot? CGI? Acting? Production design? Score? Cinematography? Any of this? All? Thanks.

Pistacchio, you should watch "A Bronx Tale" with DeNiro. If a child is surrounded by criminals, the child will have criminals as heros. A child that is raised religiously may have a better sense about morality and therefore be more affected (even traumatized) by abuses. I have said!

I almost turned off Alien Covenant. It is almost as boring as "Alien 3." I made it to the end but no longer care what happens with these prequels. There was no suspense or artistry, just the feeling of been there done that, seen it all before. Bring on Blomkamp's Alien 5. Ripley, Newt and Hicks are characters fans care about.
