Is it because it's well acted and the characters feel real? or is it because it came out about 2006 where there wasn't such a focus on diversity and more on plot and characters. Pretty much all the main characters are white only one side character with a couple scenes is black. The movie wouldn't be able to come out today without people saying it's too white and lacks diversity, but back then everyone just enjoyed it and it's even a chick flick guys can like because it has good performances by the main cast.

Just because a film has good performances doesn't mean I'm motivated to watch it. The subject matter and setting has to appeal to me, or no dice.
Thus I've never seen THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA.

I loved Meryl Streep, Stanley Tucci and Emily Blunt characters.
Anne Hathaway is very good, but the three above are damn good.
