In retrospect the blocking and spacing which Speilberg excels at within his movies makes him very aptly suited within such a genre, I'm surprised he never did it at all earlier. |

It’s Steven fucking Spielberg, I’d be shocked if it wasn’t nominated. I mean The Post and Bridge of Spies both underwhelmed, seems like they were waiting for him again to make a bigger and livelier show and try again before rewarding him as well. |

Yeah I mean Spielberg factor, audience factor as they want to draw audiences into awards, and it's undeniable review lists, plus you got both Denise and Moreno who are likely going to compete. |

At this point I'm hoping for Charlotte Rampling for the Verhoeven in that category although lots including STORY unseen

Rampling had no business being that good but sadly I don't see her getting nominated. The film is certainly strong meat by academy standards ... but so was PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN and that got lots of noms (and I think a win)... and at least Rampling wasn't getting it on with the other sisters or having naughty fantasies about a Jesus who looks like a Hemsworth .... she's probably the least controversial aspect of the movie!

Its pretty good - won't eclipse the original for me but a good run through - Ariana Debose as Anita the standout .... but I loved what they did for Rita Moreno....
