Tis difficult to score , it being a general Christmas romance movie , that's been made to be an entertaining riposte take on the season . And I admit to watching this specifically to be enured by the performance of the lovely lead actress . Also it should be mentioned Brooke Shields has always felt the romance of her own Scottish ancestry , and is probably why she signed on to do this as well . The movie is based around an absolutely beautiful Scottish castle , and a proud impoverished Duke who can no longer afford the upkeep of it , and the bills are mounting . A successful American is on the market for her own fairytale . The debonair desperate Duke with an indecipherable Scottish brogue is played by Gary Elwes who you may know as the lead from Robin Hood: Men In Tights , struggles to warm to the brash American . As these two grate and clash with each other , a deeper love begins to draw them together . Brooke Shields flaunts herself in this , and it is indeed a welcome distraction . She could do well with her strong posture and look as a lead in the new Lord Of The Rings Series as a ranger or fighting princess . Gary Elwes was a good counterpoint in this romance . Well , how does one mark this season romance ? I'm marking it higher , because of the leads . Another season movie I've just enjoyed was The Christmas Train .
