George Romero directed the wrestling documentary 'Iron City A**kickers' (1998) featuring underground indie superstar Big Poppa Gator. Romero used to chat with his good friend John Carpenter about wrestling. Carpenter had already cast Ox Baker in 'Escape From New York' (1981) and Rowdy Piper in 'They Live' (1988). It's said Romero and Carpenter both wanted to get Terry Funk in to a movie. A survivor of 'Piper's Pit', Funk did work on 'Road House' (1989) with director Rowdy Herrington (no relation), as well as Menahem Golan's influential arm wrestling drama 'Over The Top' (1987).

Oh cool, there's a wrestling section on here. Never knew Romero was a wrestling fan! Another reason to like him.
