Well, let me preface this by saying I'm a big Keanu fan, a big Scifi fan, and a special effects horror in general, so that makes me easier to please in general.
I really love the original trilogy, so I was rooting for this to be good. My biggest issue with it is that it did not move the plot of the Matrix story forward at all. There was no point to young Morpheus. I was annoyed by our visit to Nayobi, no point to that at all either, and it was depressing that didn't seem to be more progress made in human development of "the real world." I did think it was cool that sentients had become somewhat like pets and allies along the way.
I always loved Trinity as a character and she and Neo were a great pairing in the trilogy. This film was pretty much fan service to get them back together, and I dig that, but they just ignored the fact she dies in 3. They reference the prior films, so how does that work?
I thought it was fun and Neil Patrick Harris was a great villain. At this point though, I have no idea why anyone would take the red pill and leave the Matrix. There is nothing beyond it even remotely attractive enough to want to leave having a full life for, even if it's simulated. All this movie accomplished was showing us Cipher was right in the first film. All that's left of the real world is a dystopian nightmare and it didn't get much better even after a truce with the machines. Put me back in the Matrix.
I did enjoy it, but the accusations of it being a cash grab are fair. I just hope if they do another one see more of the real world and get some sense of why we should want to live in it.

I liked the set-up, but once they pulled Thomas back into the real world it just seemed like it was going through the motions of the first film, only more convoluted without any real reason.
I guess I just want an entire film taking place in the Matrix with people wondering why these slightly strange things are happening.

I liked it.
I'll buy it when it becomes available in March or so (on iTunes).
I couldn't catch some of the dialog so I'd like to see the rest of it on Closed Captioning.

“…The Matrix Resurrections star Keanu Reeves reportedly donated most of his earnings from the original 1999 film The Matrix to cancer research. According to Lad Bible (via New York Post), Reeves donated around $31.5 million to leukemia research, 70 percent of the approximately $45 million total he made from the blockbuster. Per the report, the reason for the generous donation was that, at the time, Reeves' younger sister Kim was battling the disease having previously been diagnosed with it in 1991.” comicbook.com/movies/news/keanu-reeves-reveals-he-donated-70-of-his-matrix-salary-to-cancer-research/

Down to Earth. Gave up his seat on a subway, etc.
Which other A-list movie stars ride the subway at all?
