The end of the regular season is a month away (stupid 17th game) - who's getting the chop? Already gone: Jon Gruden (Raiders) It's harder to call this year due to the parity league-wide. A lot of the really bad teams (Texans, Jets, Jaguars, Lions) have first-time coaches, and those guys usually get at least a second season. Some of the guys you'd think are on the hot seat could potentially buy another year with a strong end to the season. If I had to guess, I'd say Nagy (his offense sucks, wrong guy to groom Fields) and Zimmer (not terrible but I think the Vikings need a fresh voice) will be gone. Lions seem to like Campbell. Jets will give Saleh a chance to revamp the defense once they add some new pieces. I don't think the Texans care very much if they compete or not, why hire Culley otherwise? Jags have too much invested in Meyer, though they need to be VERY watchful. He could seriously fuck up Lawrence's development. Fangio? Denver's defense is looking pretty good. Might be enough to save his job and lead another year once they've made a big move for a top QB. Flores has got the Dolphins back on track after a horrible start. Panthers have made a lot of mistakes, all under Rhule's orders - but I don't think they'll can him yet. Joe Judge maybe? Word is that Gettleman will be gone, will the head coach follow? Carroll? Seahawks could want a shake-up if they finish poorly. NFL hirings and firings. Discuss NFL hirings and firings here.

If Gettleman gets the axe, will the new GM fire Judge?
Culley seemed like a placeholder to begin with; I could see him being shown the door after one year.

Gentleman has to go, but Joe Judge is not as clear. But forcing the next GM to keep the coach is never a good move, and Judge has done nothing to prove he deserves to stay. I don't like the idea of firing yet another coach after only 2 years, but I can't make a great argument that he should stay. They fucked up by forcing Coughlin out and they've yet to recover from the ripple effects.
I don't have a sense of which way they're going yet, but I'm leaning towards getting rid of Judge. You gotta get a new GM and let him get his coach.
I'd want either of KC's coordinators, and lean towards getting Spags back in the organization.

I was all in on firing Zimmer a year ago because we were led to believe he was the one who wanted Cousins. This year we learned he never wanted Cousins. That makes a huge difference to me, because there was magic with Keenum, Diggs, and Thielan in 2018. All I need to know is that Zimmer knew that too. I'd rather keep him than take whatever in house scrub they promote to the job.

I'd give Rhule another year. He had no QB this year and McCaffrey was always hurt. The defense was great early in the season.

How to win friends and influence people, by Urban Meyer: What the fuck? Didn't he choose his staff? It's not like he inherited a coaching staff from someone else. Is he trying to get fired at this point? By the way, good on T-Law for questioning the logic behind benching their leading rusher.

Is he trying to get fired at this point? By the way, good on T-Law for questioning the logic behind benching their leading rusher. The Jags thought they'd be the center of the football universe when they drafted Lawrence, and that's exactly what happened. Why, Urban alone has generated more media buzz and public attention than the franchise has ever had since their inception.

Nagy's surely not going to be coaching the Bears next season. Regardless of how much the Jags have invested in Meyer, I have to imagine he's not going to be a part of the organization much longer. Judge was dropped into an unfortunate situation, but with the Giants looking to get a new GM, I'd have to imagine Judge will be gone. Fangio might get another year, but I wouldn't be shocked if he was gone. Carroll seems to be on the outs with Seattle, especially if it's looking like he might be causing Wilson to feel alienated from the organization.
Rhule will definitely get another year or two.

Is Urban Meyer just another Lou Holtz, Steve Spurrier, Nick Saban? A college coach who couldn't deal with the pros. Not everyone can be a Jimmy Johnson

I don't know about that... look who he's coaching. The Jags don't have a lot of talent and Lawrence is looking very shaky in his rookie season. Sure, he's a rookie and could develop into a better QB but yeah, it looks like he's going to have a hard time making that transition from college to pro.
But if everything is true in these recent articles about Meyer, he's probably one and done. Really now... calling your assistants "losers". That's just uncalled for.
As far as who I think is on the hot seat this year.... it's gotta be Mike Zimmer, right? He has a great roster and they just can't seem to get over the hump and keep blowing leads. He's been in Minnesota for like what... 8 seasons now and how many playoff games have they won, like 2 or something?
Yeah, he's done at the end of this season.
After that its probably Matt Nagy.

The Urban Meyer stuff to me is hilarious. He HAS to be gone next year as he could ruin Lawrence. Meyer has never gotten a job and not had controversy. He never deserved this Jags job to begin with. If I was Lawrence I'd demand Meyer fired. Lawrence has the power and if he doesn't than that whole team is fucked and Lawrence will be a David Carr 2.0 as a guy who never stood a chance.
I think Rhule is back but will be on a 1 year probe it deal.
Giants I think fire everybody.
Fangio will be gone unless Rodgers has a thing with accepting a trade to Denver as long as Fangio stays.
Zimmer I think is gone. He is a good coach but it just seems time. He will be the scapegoat.
Nagy will be gone sadly.

Urban Liar has been a disaster, he’s clearly one of those coaches who had college success who’s just not fit to coach in the NFL. He’s always been a morally bankrupt scumbag, and I have to say I’m happy he has failed and will be gone, there’s no excuse for how he fucked over Florida and then his shitty behavior at Ohio St.
I think unless the Vikings make the playoffs Zimmer is gone, Zimmer is known as a defensive coach and the Vikings defense has been shaky once again with the offense carrying the team, and I think fans will be pissed enough that if they don’t make the playoffs Zimmer is gone.
Nagy is definitely gone after this season.
Everyone else, well I don’t know, Joe Judge might get fired but I don’t think it’s his fault the Giants suck right now, they’ve been hit by injuries worse than any other team.

My money's on Mike Tomlin since he hasn't won a playoff game since 2016. Also, Nagy and Culley are likely on the chopping block. Maybe Zimmer?
