For those who cannot be bothered to click... I'd put Waterboys in there. Associates. Belle and Sebastian. Do Glasgow-originated Lloyd Cole and the Commotions count? Proclaimers. Exploited. Big Country. Alex Harvey Band. Texas. Average White Band. And Simple Minds.
Any other favourites?

That is actually a very good Top 10,all bands I like/love - The Mary Chain being my number one (saw them live a few weeks ago and they are still amazing)
For me the one glaring omission is Simple Minds. The 5 years prior to going huge with Don't You they released 6 albums that were varied, sometimes experimental and in a lot of cases, just great.
I have a big soft spot for Big John Duncan's post-Exploted and Shirley Manson's pre-Garbage band Goodbye Mr MacKenzie
Some other favourites - Altered Images, Franz Ferdinand, Big Country, Bis, BMX Bandits, Lloyd Cole and the Commotions, The Vaselines, Chvrches and The Associates

How about Trash Can Sinatras? I like 'em. Same with Aztec Camera.

I knew, for a fact, they are Irish. However, courtesy of my friend wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Corries"The Corries were a Scottish folk group that emerged from the Scottish folk revival of the early 1960s" I stand corrected. I immediately thought of The Proclaimers. Of course, we all know their songs "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" and "I'm On My Way". Back when I worked music retail, my brother bought the 'Sunshine On Leith' CD. I borrowed it from him, and listened to it. I was going to put the copy for sale in the Country section. There were quite a few songs that had that country twang - which I did not expect. Joker's Wilde
