Just got out of the theater - Marvel just isn’t for me anymore. I didn’t like it much.
Holland’s Peter was beyond parody with that plan to “cure” the villains - what a joke. Virtue signal and kill a bunch of innocent people or let these violent villains go back and fend for themselves?
Naturally he chooses the former.
Tobey’s inclusion was a massive missed opportunity, he felt like a pale and hollow shade of himself in his trilogy. Garfield was great, he really nailed the character here.
Other than that, there was lots of CGI that looked dodgy and, again, the story was beyond lame.
It had some nice touches, like the ending with Holland’s Peter (finally) getting to be his own Spider-Man as well as the sacrifice he took on just to get to that point. The fight in the apartment building was cool, too.
The rest just left me unimpressed.

Amazing. This will certainly be in my top 3 MCU movies. Probably in top 5 comic book movies ever. It was fantastic they could bring back all the original actors and give them each a decent chunk of screentime with a good storyline to go along. I wasnt Tom Hollands biggest fan when he first got the gig, didnt like Homecoming too much. But after Far from Home and now No Way Home hes graduated and developed into a great Peter Parker/Spiderman.

Upon further thought I've some issues with the film: Parker & Happy couldn't have exposed that Mysterio was a fraud, which would make people question his claim, then they could go about clearing Parkers name - that's probably what should've happened except Marvel & Sony needed a reason for Steven to cast the spell. Do the fixes to the villains stick? If so does this change the endings of the previous 5 Spiderman films or do these villains return to their deaths making it all for nothing. I don't recall Maquire reacting to JJJ.

Let me say right off the bat that I liked it a lot more than I thought I would. The first few minutes had me worried it was going to be as awful as anticipated; then Matt Murdock showed up, which brought a smile to my face. Most importantly, the spell didn't work, so the movie thankfully wasn't entirely about Peter's secret identity. The villains and both previous Spideys had an appropriate amount of screen time, and didn't dominate the story on their own, which was the right call. I still think the story overall is rather weak (Why doesn't Peter just ask Strange or Pepper Potts (Stark Industries CEO!) to vouch for his character instead of doing this ridiculous spell? Why does he even need to go to high school? Just take Ned and MJ and start your own thinktank, you have the brainpower and the backing of Stark Industries for goodness sake. Complete high school online, then move on to literally any college which gladly would accept a genius superhero and his ethnically diverse friends. It's kind of inexplicable that he'd still want to bother with high school at all, especially when he only really talks to MJ and Ned.) But I guess the movie functions well enough as a gateway to the multiverse, which was the whole point. That being said, after worrying about the ramifications of him regaining his secret identity, I ultimately enjoy how the film plays out at the end. It's almost like a soft reboot of his character. Spidey to me has always been a neighborhood superhero, not a spacefaring alien fighter. I'm glad he isn't bogged down by the baggage of the previous films now, as sorry as I am to see May go, that storyline has gone as far as h needs to. And I much prefer the classic webslinger to Iron-Man lite that he's been thus far in the MCU. And the way the story plays out, it totally tracks that he'd choose to keep his friends safe by not letting them know. One thing I didn't understand was why he went into a murderous rage. I don't believe anything, even May's death would send him over the edge like that. They basically concocted that sequence to give Tobey something heroic to do, since Andrew got to save MJ. It didn't ruin the move for me, but it really didn't make any sense. Mid-credit scene I can do without. I hate what they've done with Venom in these movies. He's a dopey cartoon character, like a bad SNL sketch. I don't know what Hardy is doing, and that Venom voice is ridiculous. I can't sit through commercials for those movies, much less the movies themselves. Another good thing about this flick is that it proved I can still enjoy it without having seen the Garfield Spider-Man movies. This tells me I can skip any Venom appearances in the future but still not miss much with the overall narrative of the franchise. Because I can't sit through any movie with a significant Venom presence. Unless they're suggesting this leftover remnant of Venom will have a much different tone in this universe than his own, I'd be all for that. Post-credit wasn't so much a post-credit but basically a teaser for MoM. Looks awesome, I'm a lot more excited for it than I was previously. So yeah the film was a success, much better than the Adventures of Yellow Dog from a few years ago. This was pretty much a contract year for Spider-Man in my book, and he earned an extension. You didn't understand his murderous rage? Are you joking? A man you're trying to help and rehabilitate kills your relative and you're going to buy him free cinema tickets to a Marvel movie of his choice? The moral to that aspect of the story is it was wrong for him to think that way, stupid. That's why the other Spider-Men stop him, it's why Peter himself tries to help these guys when Strange wanted to send them all back to certain death in the first place. The problem is there's no reason anybody would have to explain that to him with in the narrative. I figured out what your attitude problem is. It isn't simply that you're the dumbest poster on this board, it's that you know you are. Hence the overcompensating. Have a better one.

That may have been the message of the film you didn't ask what the message of the film was what happened is you couldn't comprehend in that thick skull of yours why a nephew would be pissed off with the killer of his only remaining relative. If you were briefed on what the message of the film was your brain would've been all caught up on why Peter Parker was stopped by Tobey and the importance of that scene without asking a stupid question. If you don't want to be treated like the retard that you are stop acting like a retard. You're the dumbest poster not only on here but on every online forum or social media including Twitter that I've replied to. Trust a freak named after a Star Wars princess to throw a hissy fit online because she's been exposed as a moron.

I agree with almost everything you've said Tobey looked lost, tired and sick in the movie he didn't look like his old self at all and the cure storyline was the dumbest plot in movie history and ruined what would've been a fantastic Avengers like movie with the previous Spider-Men. If the Green Goblin sabotaged Peter and Strange sending them back home in the basement it would've been less dumber. Yes, they were trying to show Peter Parker was full of goodness by volunteering to cure the villains, but it felt as if Peter was a dumb kid playing with forces beyond his control in other words it was a very Tony Stark like attitude that he had.

To be fair, it was Aunt Mays idea. Peter was ready to send them back. And also Peter wouldnt have known any of the villains backstories so he couldnt know for sure that they are deranged mass murderers. For example Sandman tried to help him at first and Norman Osbourne seemed innocent and scared at the shelter.

I understand why a nephew would go berserk, I don't understand why Peter Parker would. See the difference? The other characters sure did. All you do is yell at everyone because you don't understand what they're saying. Every interaction with you is not only hostile, it's also like trying to rationalize with a toddler. You take everything literally, I've pointed this out to you in the past. I don't agree with what they did with Peter, so you say, "How can you not understand that he was angry because his aunt died? It was all right there on the screen." You don't understand the issues with characterization, everything has to be spelled out to you. Sorry man, you're stupid. And I've had this screen name since 2004. I'm way too mature to name myself after a Disney princess. It's a lego toy. Pfff.

Then when he meets Norman Osborne he is shown as a frail old man. But he knows GG is one of the villains that came through that should have given him a hint that they weren't a tribute band.

For that matter, there's no reason Electro ever would've considered letting them take his power. Why would he? It's a fun movie but it's weak on story.

Also Sandman has no reason to be fighting against the Spidermen at the end. His story is he wanted to be cured so he could go home and see his daughter. I think the movie tried to pitch the idea that all the villains were delirious and out of control mentally and needed to be monitored like schizophrenics before their impulses got the better of them.

To address some of the things I've read the past few days, without trying to start a fight with anyone:
Sandman just wanted to go home. NOW. And he felt he had the power to make that happen. That's why he did what he did in the end fight. Kinda how Smart-Hulk could have just talked it out with the sorcerer-supreme but instead just tried to take the time stone.
I get why Tom's Peter Parker wanted to kill Green Goblin. Toby's Peter said he felt the same way. That he wanted the man responsible for Ben's death dead, and when he got what he wanted it didn't make it better. They tried to reason with him before the fight, but GG coming back and messing things up filed Tom's Parker with that same death rage that filled Tobey's in 2003.
I also agree that the story is horrendous to get us from point A to point B. I can't overlook that as some are with their "best movie" or "top ___ comic book movie." The Civil War story to get us from A-B was sketchy, but nothing like this. I do like point A, and I really like point B, but it is just bad what it took to get us there, many points of which have already been brought up.
I liked it. I enjoyed it. I'll probably go see it again soon (saw it in IMAX Thursday), but there is a lot of bad in it. Too much to even put it in my top 15 marvel movies. Without Andrew catching her, I'd rank it behind Far From Home.
But Andrew caught her!
Edit: which reminds me, did Tom know MJ was caught? He might have thought GG preventing him from saving her got her killed, leading to even more rage. I'll have to watch again.

Finally saw it. A bit of a letdown. Not a great script, some moments that felt cheesy, convenient "cures" for everything that was wrong with the villains, plot hole ending (people forgot who Peter Parker was, so what about news footage that already exists about him being SM and other things that are still around? Did photos of him suddenly disappear from his friends' phones?), etc. And Tom Hardy's Venom can go screw himself with his stupid ass. In my opinion, his presence in the mid-credits stinger cheapened the movie. And the post-credits stinger being a straight-up trailer? Alright.
Didn't hate the movie, but I think it was the weakest of the newer ones.
