I'm a big fan of the late M.C. Beaton (Marion Chesney) and Louise Penny. I read a lot of Agatha Christi when I was young and loved the movies Margaret Rutherford starred in as Mrs. Marple (to me she was the perfect Mrs. Marple).

Fans of classic mysteries actually hate the term cosy crime. Some of Christie's novels like Curtain or And Then There Were None aren't exactly cosy.

Lawrence Block's "Burglar" series could fit in that category as could Chris Fowler's wonderful Bryant And May books.

Every week I think I see Richard Osman at number 1 in the U K book chart, I guess both in paperback and hardback, for the 'Murder Club' bestsellers. I can see why he's been called a "national treasure that's unquestionably the best of British" as he's clearly been smashing it on television and in the world of literature. I think the Osman debate began back in 2017, but can anyone seriously challenge the ruling any longer, as 2021 draws to a close?
The "national treasure" list my work colleagues carefully maintain, edit and update has about 200 people on it and counting (not including certain royals, politicians and public figures they say are obvious) ... They claim I'm unpatriotic for not joining in their debates, but I just have nothing to add to the debate. Bets on next apparently for Claire Foy, I'm sure I'll be hearing plenty about it at work (one I could actually get on board with as she was terrific in Steven Soderbergh's 2018 thriller 'Unsane').
"CLAIRE FOY is that rare thing – an actor with interesting things to say about the parts she plays. She stars as Margaret Campbell, Duchess of Argyll, in A Very British Scandal on BBC1. It is about her divorce in 1963 from the Duke of Argyll. Britain was scandalised by what came out in court – not least a Polaroid of her naked with an unnamed man. Claire sees it as an early example of what we now call “revenge porn”. She adds: “Who she was, her sexuality, the way she behaved, her choices in life, were used against her and to judge her.” Claire also feels it’s neither here nor there that the duchess apparently wasn’t the nicest person. She says: “She made up lies as quick as most people want a cup of tea. She was also incredibly privileged and no one said no to her. "But she was still a human being and what she was subjected to, nobody should be subjected to.” Whatever your view, what is beyond question is the brilliance of Claire’s performance. She’s turning into a national treasure."
