So should Bond have treated Goldfinger equally and also given him a buttock slap? His views are pretty well known but I was playing with the interpretation of treating women equally. But anyway, to avoid the risk of this thread becoming too serious…

He could have, but Goldfinger would have immediately lost interest in Fort Knox, offered Bond an engagement ring and we would have been into a completely different movie.

A huge disappointment, the whole movie felt lazy.

It's not one of my favorites, but it has one of the best theme songs in the series. Sean Connery looks disengaged for most of the film. He was hired back at the last minute so he had little time to get back in shape, which explains his older appearance. Charles Gray lacked the menace as Blofeld. Jill St. John (who oddly enough dated George Lazenby before doing this film) as Tiffany Case started as a sassy Bond girl, but was reduced to a bimbo by the end. Mr. Wint and Mr. Kidd were fairly memorable henchmen. That said, the first half was pretty good, but it's the second half that becomes too jokey for my tastes. I give it a 6/10. This review pretty well lines up with my own opinion of the film. IMO it's the weakest of the Connery films, but I still like it better than the first two Roger Moore films "featuring" Sheriff J.W. Pepper. Despite its flaws, DAF is one of nine Bond films deemed memorable enough to have its own quote thread. The most recent thread is for my favorite Roger Moore Bond film For Your Eyes Only. This film had it's flaws but was more groundbreaking than many realize as a big budget film with strong sci-fi elements. The space laser is the ancestor to the Death Star and a whole slew of planetary threat movies. The over the top villainy would later become standard fare for super hero films (and Mike Myers). The John Barry score is top notch (especially the space walk)

I have always liked it. It was the first James Bond film I ever saw, I was fifteen I think when it came out. Thought it was fabulous.
