I know it's a little early for some of us, but for those of you that celebrate, I hope you have a wonderful Christmas with family and friends. Even I'll walk across the aisle and dabble in some 7-fishes type of ordeal, or whatever it is.

Feast of the 7 fishes on Christmas Eve when I was a kid was my favorite day of the year. As the generations have thinned, we don't do 7 but still plenty of fish to go around. Merry Christmas to all who celebrate!

You were specifically who I thought of when I put in “for some of us.” Merry Xmas! For what it’s worth, Australia is currently #2 on my must visit destinations behind only Japan. When I finally do go, what cities/areas should I visit?

Merry Christmas to all who celebrate! I've never actually done the 7-fishes thing. My sister-in-law is making it this year so I'm interested to see what she comes up with. I offered to contribute a few dishes but she insisted on doing it all herself....with 2 little kids and another one on the way (in about 6 weeks). That's a lot of meal prep for one very pregnant lady. Alas, I'm looking forward to it. Being Jewish (but without a religious bone in my body), I've always enjoyed Christmas.

When I finally do go, what cities/areas should I visit? Simply put - there are no ‘bad areas’. It really depends on what your priorities are. However, Sydney is a definite. On a nice sunny day (except for the absolute heat of summer) Sydney Harbour is simply spectacular. Walking along the foreshore, or on a ferry - it’s amazing.

I'd assume I would spend a few days in Sydney if, for no other reason, I'd have to fly into Sydney and after that looooooong of a flight, I'd want to keep my feet on the ground for a few days before jetting somewhere else. We're more into the adventure type of stuff, but generally just walking around new areas and soaking it all in. Beaches and lounging aren't really my favorite vacation activity, I prefer hiking, meeting locals, food tours, history. Looking forward to seeing your beautiful country!!

Wow, she has her hands full! I'm sure you'll enjoy. Funny, my wife is technically Jewish but also without a religious bone in her body and she enjoys Christmas even more than I do! Happy Holidays to you and your crew klaw!

Merry Christmas everybody! Even though I was raised Catholic, I don't have a single religious bone in my body either - but that doesn't stop me from appreciating Christmas.
I have never heard of this seven fishes thing. Must not be a Catholic thing.
